En direct de la cour du palais des Papes, lors du Festival d'Avignon. Les murs du palais des Papes sont les témoins de prises de risques théâtraux et chorégraphiques depuis soixante-six ans. Le metteur en scène Jérôme Bel invite les spectateurs qui, chaque été, prennent place dans les gradins. Avec lui, ils évoquent des pièces auxquelles ils ont assisté, récemment pour certains, ou depuis plusieurs dizaines d'années pour d'autres, lui révélant ainsi la place qu'ont tenue ces moments de théâtre dans leur vie et ce qu'il en reste aujourd'hui.

The flop musical "Funny Boy" (based on William Shakespeare's Hamlet) opens – and closes ("Opening Night"). Afterward, Leo Bloom (Matthew Broderick) arrives at the office of the show's washed up producer, Max Bialystock (Nathan Lane). Max has hired Leo Bloom as his accountant. While studying Max's books, Leo inadvertently inspires Max to gain more money with a flop than a hit by putting on a show that is certain to fail at the box office after collecting an excessive amount of money from their backers and cleverly changing their accounts, leaving them with $2,000,000 to spend. At first, Leo refuses to participate. Max, who cannot change the books himself, attempts to coax Leo into the scheme ("We Can Do It"), but Leo still refuses and returns to his old accounting firm, Whitehall & Marks.

Francesca et Martin vivent, entre réalité et fiction, dans une joyeuse bohême. Et surtout au-dessus de leurs moyens. Leur ami, metteur en scène, le transforme en studio de cinéma. Tous leurs parents excentriques ou malmenés par le sort y trouvent refuge. La vie y est un vaudeville et une fête permanente, pimentée par les mésaventures érotiques de Martin, séducteur malgré lui, et par les liaisons d'Adrien, fasciné par les fromagères et les vendeuses de légumes. Ce grand appartement est le dernier paradis sur terre, plein de musique, de danses et de passion. Francesca doit le défendre contre la rapacité de la propriétaire qui veut récupérer l'appartement pour le vendre…

Director Gaspard Bazin is working on a new feature film. For now, he's still looking at the fundraising and casting stage of the process. He calls upon Jean Almereyda, a once-fashionable producer who is now going through a bad patch, finding it increasingly difficult to raise the capital he needs for his ventures. His wife Eurydice dreams of being a movie star. A perverse game between the two men ensues, with Almereyda wanting to please his wife, but reluctant to demand a role for Eurydice because of Bazin's reputation as an incorrigible seducer.

C’est en 1960, qu’Enki Bilal, fils du tailleur de Tito arrive pour la première fois Gare de l’Est à Paris. Il a alors 10 ans et ne parle pas un mot de français mais s’exprime déjà par le dessin. Des années plus tard, des millions d’albums vendus donnent une notoriété à Bilal, des albums où il dresse le portrait de villes improbables, de mondes au bord de l’explosion. Il est aussi peintre et après avoir fait des décors d’Alain Resnais ou du chorégraphe Angelin Preljocaj, il devient metteur en scène et réalise 3 longs-métrages. Le film de Gloria Campana permet de découvrir comment son univers graphique, son imaginaire se construisent autour de grands poètes comme Baudelaire ou d’écrivains fantastiques tels que Edgar Poe ou Lovecraft. Mais il va au-delà de l’artiste, au-delà de l’image, pour nous faire découvrir l’homme blessé, le déraciné revenu sur les traces de son enfance.

Before he strode confidently into Hitchcock territory, filmmaker Brian De Palma began his career in the late 1960s and early 1970s with a series of anti-authority satires. Hi, Mom! (1970) wasn't quite as controversial as its X-rated predecessor, Greetings (1968), but it still has a bite, even today. Robert DeNiro stars as Jon Rubin, a Vietnam vet looking to find his place in America. He gets the idea of making porno films with a voyeuristic quality, filming the residents of a neighboring apartment building from his window. To get quicker results, he even seduces one woman and tries to perform for the camera, set on a timer. He also auditions for a role in a play entitled "Be Black Baby," in which the white spectators are humiliated by black performers. The film goes off on many tangents, using black-and-white footage to capture seemingly spontaneous reactions of passersby, but it never loses its obsession with voyeurism and the power of the camera. In many ways, this rambunctious mess gets closer to De Palma's dark heart than many of his later, more artistically successful works. Charles Durning appears in an early role as a slum landlord.

Vétéran de la guerre du Vietnam, Jon Rubin caresse le rêve de devenir metteur en scène… de films érotiques ! Lorsqu'il parvient à convaincre un producteur de financer son projet, il se lance dans des méthodes de mise en scène peu banales : filmer ses voisins à leur insu. Mais très vite, l'aventure tourne court. Jon revoit ses ambitions à la hausse et, pour se venger d'une société pervertie, se lance dans un nouveau projet : la guérilla urbaine et les explosions d'immeubles !
