20/20 got its name from its distinction of being The Beach Boys' 20th official album release. In the wake of Brian Wilson's partial absence, younger siblings Dennis Wilson and Carl Wilson began to take the helm both inside and outside the studio's control room. After all the admirable work by his band-mates, it was ironic that Brian Wilson would steal the show with three older compositions. "Cabinessence" and "Our Prayer" derived from the mythical Smile sessions, plus "Time to Get Alone," begun during the Wild Honey sessions.

Smiley Smile is the 12th studio album released by the Beach Boys. The record was a simplified version of their original project SMiLE, which never came to be after Brian Wilson discarded a large portion of the music intended for the album. Here is the Stereo version.

Smiley Smile is the 12th studio album by American rock band the Beach Boys, released on September 18, 1967. Devised as a simplified version of their then-forthcoming Smile—a different, much more elaborately constructed LP—Smiley Smile contrasts significantly with its minimalist approach and Lo-Fi production. Its music is often cited for having positive effects during an LSD comedown, and was used by at least one drug clinic to help relieve users from bad trips. Regarded as a forerunner to certain bedroom pop acts, in 1974, it was voted the 64th greatest album of all time by NME writers and, in 2000, it was one of 100 albums featured in the book The Ambient Century as a landmark in the development of ambient music.

After the much-discussed, uncompleted Smile project - which was supposed to take the innovations of Pet Sounds to even grander heights - collapsed, the Beach Boys released Smiley Smile in its place. (To clarify much confusion: Smiley Smile is an entirely different piece of work than Smile would have been, although some material that ended up on Smiley Smile would have most likely been used on Smile. Also, much of Smiley Smile was in fact recorded after the Smile sessions had ceased.) For fans expecting something along the lines of Sgt. Pepper's (and there were many of them), Smiley Smile was a major disappointment, replacing psychedelic experimentation with spare, eccentric miniatures. Heard now, outside of such unrealistic expectations, it's a rather nifty, if rather slight, effort that's plenty weird - in fact, it's often downright goofy - despite Brian Wilson's retreat from both avant pop and active leadership of the group…

The Secret Smile is a 2004 collection of tracks The Beach Boys did in 1967 for their Smile album, an album that was to be their follow-up to Pet Sounds but Brian Wilson allegedly lost his mind and ended up fading to the unknown for awhile. There are countless bootlegs from the Smile sessions but this is one of them, with a total of 59 tracks. No label is listed for this title.

Smile is arguably the most long-awaited album in modern pop history. It's been more than 40 years since the title first appeared on a label release schedule, intended as the January 1967 follow-up to the groundbreaking art-rock of the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds. But Smile never made its initial release date. Today, this album is not a mere reconstruction of past performances, but something entirely new, a serious summation of a project that has been gestating for nearly four decades…
