Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music
Malicorne is my favourite folk collective and Almanach is their best album. It is a concept album from 1976 where each of the 12 songs represents a month of the year. Hence 'Almanach' which means calendar in English. Track 13 was not on the original album.

A French cross between GRYPHON and STEELEYE SPAN. The songs are mostly old French traditional songs. The head of Malicorne is singer-guitarist-composer Gabriel Yacoub.

Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection.
There is something about the music on Malicorne's album `Le Bestiaire' (roughly translated to `The Animals') that transports me to another space and time.

Gabriel Yacoub began his musical career as a guitarist and backing vocalist for Alan Stivell before forming his own band Malicorne.

Pierre Bachelet (25 May 1944 – 15 February 2005) was a French singer-songwriter with a gentle romantic voice.
Bachelet spent part of his childhood in Calais and developed a lifelong appreciation of the North of France, which inspired his hit song "Les corons" (1982).

Gilbert Laffaille occurs Printemps de Bourges in 1978. His second album ("Nettoyage De Printemps…") was then the Grand Prix de l’Académie Charles Cros.
