"Suddenly" is the 5th studio album by British recording artist Billy Ocean, released in 1984. It featured his first major U.S. pop hit single "Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run)", which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 record chart. It's hard to believe, but there hadn't been a Billy Ocean hits compilation released in the U.S. since the initial 1989 attempt Greatest Hits on Jive, so the 2004 release of BMG's Ultimate Collection would have been welcome even if it didn't live up to the expectations of the title. Thankfully, it does fit the bill quite nicely. There is one or two minor hits - such as "I Sleep Much Better (In Someone Else's Bed)," the new song tacked onto Greatest Hits - that aren't here, but the time was ripe for BMG to release a new disc, and this generous 18-track collection otherwise contains all of Ocean's hits, both big and small.

Tear Down These Walls is the seventh solo studio album by British recording artist Billy Ocean. It was originally released in January 1988 by Jive and Arista as the follow-up to Ocean's critically and commercially successful 1986 album Love Zone. It features guest backing vocalists, including The Manhattans, Will Downing, Carroll Thompson, and Mary Cassidy, and is generally regarded as the culmination of the smoother, more adult-oriented sound of Ocean's later work. On release, the album was received favourably by the majority of music critics. Ocean's second most commercially successful solo album, it went on to peak at #3 on the UK Albums Chart and reached #18 on the Billboard 200. The album launched four charting singles in the UK. "Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car" peaked at #3 on the UK Singles Chart; "Calypso Crazy" peaked at #35; "The Colour of Love" at #65; "Stand and Deliver" at #97.

Part of an extensive line of budget compilations from Sony, this Billy Ocean volume includes the singer's three number one pop hits – "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)," "There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)," and "Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car" – as well as seven other significant songs from his '80s albums for Epic and Jive. It's not particularly in-depth – it's certainly not as thorough as 2004's Ultimate Collection – but it does feature most of Ocean's big hits, which also include "Nights (Feel Like Gettin' Down)," "Suddenly," and "Love Zone." Some S.O.U.L. releases are marred by inferior live material, but this set consists of the original studio recordings.

Way before hook-smart pop/R&B ditties like "When the Going Gets Tough" and "Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car" established Billy Ocean as a world-wide '80s radio icon, the singer was belting out '60s-laden soul workouts and ballads that mainly stuck a chord with U.K. audiences. This youthful debut outing boasts a nice balance of slow and fast numbers, and finds Ocean putting an abundance of energy into each track (at times perhaps a bit over-exerted).

Of all the Billy Ocean hits packages that have graced shelves over the years, Jive's L.I.F.E. is the most complete. Spanning 1976 to 1993, this U.K.-originated, double-disc retrospective ranges from the Motown-inspired, '70s soul nuggets that garnered Ocean fame throughout Europe; to his global, crossover smashes from the '80s; and finally, several entries from his sole '90s album, Time to Move On.
