May 27, 1941 was an important day in the history of World War II, as British forces finally managed to sink the German army's most robust sea-bound threat–a ship known as The Bismarck. The vast stretch of water known as the Atlantic Ocean was the final resting place for the mighty vessel, with over 2,000 of its crew also plummeting to a watery grave. Dr. Robert D. Ballard, who previously led an exhaustive search and discovery mission for the Titanic, set his sights on The Bismarck after successfully pinpointing the location of the most famous sunken ship in history.
