Long before Milli Vanilli (and later Ashlee Simpson) made playback something outrageous and cheesy, Boney M. conveyed productive pop-music via a band that included a dancer, a model, and two singers, performing the original disco songs of German producer Frank Farian. A mixed blend of Jamaican and Caribbean artists, the band had an intoxicating sound, with Island tones, that ignited the dancefloors. Their songs toutes all written, produced and sometimes even sung by Farian — topped the European charts (but never in the United States) several times, from the late '70s to the mid' 80s. The band split, giving rise to several solo careers in the late ' 80s, but their best-of's continue to sell worldwide.

The Best of 10 Years – 32 Superhits also known as 32 Superhits - Non-Stop Digital Remix is a remix album by Boney M. released in 1986. In 1981 producer Frank Farian created a thirteen-minute medley in the style of Stars on 45 called "6 Years of Boney M. Hits (Boney M. on 45)" which was issued as both A- and B-side singles in certain territories - in the UK the medley was the B-side of Boonoonoonoos 12" single "We Kill The World (Don't Kill The World)", in Germany the edited 7" version appeared as the B-side of Christmas Album single "Little Drummer Boy" and the longer version as a separate A-side 12" release in early 1982. Five years later, Farian took the non-stop medley idea one step further and extended the medley to a thirty-two track, forty-six minutes full-length album of Boney M's greatest hits with additional percussive and synthesized overdubs.

Eruption was formed in 1974 in London by vocalist Precious Wilson, lead guitarist Greg Perrineau, bassist Morgan Perrineau, keyboardist Gerry Williams, and drummer Eric Kingsley. Wilson was born in Jamaica and she moved with her family to Great Britain at the age of seven. The other members of the band came from different parts of the Caribbean and Africa. In 1975, their winning of an RCA Soul Search Contest in England brought them a record deal and their first single “Let Me Take Your Back in Time” (1976) figured prominently in the soul charts. In 1977, Boney M.’s producer Frank Farian was introduced to Eruption by his talent scout Hans-Jorg Mayer, who then took them under his wing and signed the group to Germany-based Hansa Records. Their 1978 cover of “I Can’t Stand the Rain” was a big hit internationally; reaching number five in Britain and number 18 in the U.S. (it was a U.S. Top 40 entry). The success was sealed with “One Way Ticket,” which went to number nine in the U.K. the following year.

Dschinghis Khan (known in some countries as Genghis Khan) is a German Euro disco pop band. It was originally formed in Munich in 1979 to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest with their song "Dschinghis Khan". Their original eponymous song came in fourth place at the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest in Jerusalem. Appearing at the height of the disco boom and following on the heels of other German-produced bands such as Boney M, Arabesque, and Silver Convention, the band achieved wide popularity throughout the world, especially in Europe, Russia, and Japan, though they went wholly unnoticed in the United States. Their songs invariably were themed on historical figures and exotic cultures and locales.
