The Dark Side of the Moon is the eighth studio album by English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 1 March 1973 by Harvest Records. It built on ideas explored in Pink Floyd's earlier recordings and performances, but without the extended instrumentals that characterised their earlier work. A concept album, its themes explore conflict, greed, time, and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by the deteriorating health of founding member Syd Barrett, who left in 1968.
Lonerider is a new band featuring some experienced names that sees FM vocalist team-up again with guitarist Steve Morris (they both recorded together under the Heartland name) and Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke (who played with Steve and his brother Chris’s first band Wildlife back in the early 80’s). Thunder and Tyketto bassist Chris Childs and Brian J Anthony (acoustic guitars, mandolin, percussion) complete the line-up.Every once in a while a new recording comes along with a line-up that makes your spine tingle, and here it is: "Attitude" by Lonerider. Not only does this quintet feature Steve Overland (FM, Solo, Shadowman), Steve Morris (Heartland, Shadowman) and Chris Childs (Thunder), but also legendary drummer Simon Kirke of Free and Bad Company fame. With Brain J. Anthony finishing the line-up, we have a real force to be reckoned with. What are we to expect from this group of musicians? If you like Bad Company, then this is going to be a treat for you.
Willie Nile, The Bottom Line Archive 1980-2000, is two disc set, separated by a 20 year gap, and is a great example of Nile's long term staying power, and the loyalty that Bottom Line owner/curator, Allan Pepper (booker, or talent buyer does not suffice) extends to the artists that he really believes in. Exhibit a is this double-disc affair, highlighting two distinct eras in Nile's 35-year career. It is worth noting that one of the primary reasons we can enjoy the temporal contrasts contained in this collection is simply because, when Willie was ready to come back, Allan Pepper was just as ready to welcome him back to The Bottom Line. It was a second home for me, gushes Nile. Allan and the whole vibe of the club was so musician-friendly and warm. It was just the best place to play for that reason.

Really The Orb should need no introduction by now, but in essence they’re a rotating cast of members helmed by Paterson that began in 1988 and still thrives to this day. They were there since UK acid house day one, providing a unique ambient take on the musical milieu and soon rising to chart-topping, huge-venue-headlining prominence. They’ve released 19 albums plus EPs, singles, compilations and live recordings, influencing countless other musicians along the way. The Orb (Alex Paterson and Michael Rendall) release their new album on March 27th. The album features Youth (Killing Joke), Steve Hillage (Gong, System 7), Roger Eno (co-creator of the Apollo album with Brian Eno & Daniel Lanois) & Jah Wobble (PiL, Primal Scream Orb, Invaders of the Heart).

If you like Bad Company, then this is going to be a treat for you. We have the feel of that classic Bad Company that we know and love, yet the songs are modern, fresh and vibrant. Simon has a drumming style that is unmistakeable and this shines through on all of the tracks (and an extra four on the LP version). There is a buzz surrounding the release already and the feedback is looking very promising indeed, this has surely got to be a stand-out release for 2019.
