The film's story was loosely based on a true World War II incident, and the real-life character of Lieutenant Colonel Philip Toosey. One of a number of Allied POW's, Toosey was in charge of his men from late 1942 through May 1943 when they were ordered to build two Kwai River bridges in Burma (one of steel, one of wood), to help move Japanese supplies and troops from Bangkok to Rangoon…

Welcome to the unforgettable Instrumental Gold of the 1950's! Our 14 song trip down memory lane begins with a Number One hit from 1955, Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White. This latin-flavored song, a hit by Perez Prado and his Orchestra, comes from France and was written by “Louiquy.” It was heard on the soundtrack of the film Underworfer which starred Jane Russell and Gilbert Roland. The 1959 hit film, A Summer Place, starring Richard Egan and Sandra Dee gave us a fine score by Max Steiner. The Percy Faith Orchestra release of the Theme From A Summer Place reached the top of the charts that year and earned a Grammy Award in 1960.

Not every movie soundtrack has to go as hard as it does. The best soundtracks exist outside of the movie, giving you all the feels without all the *drama.* It's like a specially curated mixtape (aka a playlist, duh) from your favorite movie to you. There's often that one, epic song that the movie's known for—the one that plays over the end credits and sends you out of the movie theater with a smile on your face—but then there are some hidden gems that maybe only got a few lines in the film but are utter bangers in their own right. Movie soundtracks = an underrated way to find new music!
