Brownswood Bubblers

Winding back to the beginning, it’s a reminder of the peculiar time in which Brownswood Recordings emerged. In 2006, record sales continued to plummet to new, dispiriting lows, while the veterans of the music industry grappled to comprehend the new, depressing reality facing them. It was a time which, in a strange way, was perfectly primed for independent record labels.

This new, especially-recorded compilation is your introduction to Future Bubblers: the Gilles Peterson-founded, England-wide programme for new artists, it's a movement to discover and support the next generation of music-makers. All profits from the release will be re-invested into the project.

Emerging from Brisbane’s music-art bohemian West End in 2008, self-taught, prodigious musician Lachlan Mitchell aka Laneous, began his eclectic and colourful journey in music as the leading member of funk band KAFKA, stamping his trademark falsetto croon on an Australian music landscape that wasn’t quite ready for an artist whose standout influence was D’Angelo’s ‘Voodoo’.

'Pour Un Homme Seul', the debut EP from Pete Beardsworth, is a cathartic exploration of the spiritual world of jazz and the healing force within. The pianist/composer is a member of Brownswood Bubblers favourite, Three Body Trio and has worked with vocalist Yazmin Lacey.
