Live! is a 1972 live album by Carlos Santana & Buddy Miles. It was recorded on New Year's Day in 1972 inside of a dormant volcano, Diamond Head in Honolulu as part of a music festival. The performance was not Santana the band but Carlos Santana with a few members of Santana and some friends from the Bay Area (Neal Schon, Coke Escovedo, Gregg Errico, and Michael Carabello) plus drummer/singer Buddy Miles, simply having a vacation and taking a break. Consider this Santana's crossroad before entering his jazz fusion phase. This Columbia Legacy CD was released on 6 September, 1994.

Buddy Miles was not only a great soul singer, and all-around music men, he was also one of the best drummers ("The Baddest Of The Bad") of an era. He was a founder member of the Electric Flag and played the drums on Jimi Hendrix best-selling album Electric Ladyland. Live is a tour de force of funk drenched rock and soul. The intro is a manic reading of "Joe Tex" and "Take It Off Him And Put It On Me" followed by a killer version of Neil Young's "Down By The River". The album closes with a rousing reading of "Them Changes" and a funky "We Got to Live Together," almost unrecognizable from the earlier version that Miles recorded with Hendrix.

The debut album from the Buddy Miles Express was released in 1968 on Mercury Records.. The title would inspire Sonic Youth to borrow it for one of their songs. The only single released for this was "Train" but single success had not been important for Sir Miles until he had a certified hit two years later with "Them Changes". This album is also known for "Let Your Lovelight Shine", which was sampled by the Beastie Boys in "Professor Booty".

It’s safe to say that there is no other recording in the catalog of drummer and vocalist Buddy Miles like this one. Recorded in 1974 and produced by the great Johnny Bristol, this places Miles in a strictly soul setting with some funky backdrops in places – thanks to the arrangements by H.B. Barnum – and while it never rocks, it rolls throughout.

During his brief yet legendary career, the albums released during Jimi Hendrix's lifetime could be broken down into two categories – psychedelic hard rock and funk/soul rock. The latter style could be pinpointed to the 1970 release Band of Gypsys, a live recording which saw Hendrix hook up with old pals Billy Cox (guitar) and Buddy Miles (drums), and shy away from the pyrotechnics of his early days in favor of heavy jamming. Thirty-six years after the release of the Band of Gypsys' lone album comes a follow-up, Band of Gypsys Return, on which Hendrix's shoes are filled by such players as Eric Gales, Kid Rock's Kenny Olson, and Guitar World Magazine's Andy Aledort, among others.

Later in 1970, while recording the album We Got To Live Together, Buddy Miles learned of the death of Hendrix, which he mentions on the inner cover of the album. Released in 1971, We Got To Live Together was produced by Miles and Robin McBride. It comprises five songs, including the instrumental "Easy Greasy". The other cuts on the album were "Runaway Child (Little Miss Nothin)", "Walking Down the Highway", "We Got To Live Together" and "Take It Off Him and Put It on Me". All the songs were written by Miles with C. Karp except for the latter. With its high energy drumming, funky overtones and big horns, this album was described as quintessential Buddy Miles.

People, Hell & Angels is a new album of twelve never before released Jimi Hendrix studio recordings. This special album showcases the legendary guitarist working outside of the original Jimi Hendrix Experience trio. Beginning in 1968, Jimi Hendrix grew restless, eager to develop new material with old friends and new ensembles. Outside the view of a massive audience that had established the Experience as rock’s largest grossing concert act and simultaneously placed two of his albums together in the US Top 10 sales chart, Jimi was busy working behind the scenes to craft his next musical statement.
