Pour bien appréhender cet ultime album de Johnny Hallyday, il faut se replonger dans la vie du chanteur à ses débuts. Après une adolescence turbulente au sein des blousons noirs de « la bande de la Trinité », Johnny a fait ses humanités rock au Golf Drouot. À l’époque, c’était un club dont l’attraction majeure était un juke-box qui diffusait du Elvis Presley, du Chuck Berry ou du Bill Haley. Celui qui s’apprêtait à devenir « l'idole des jeunes » s’y sentait comme à la maison et c’est cette même familiarité que l’auditeur ressent instantanément à l’écoute de ce disque.

The French equivalent of prog-rock bands Yes and Genesis, Atoll recorded four albums in the mid- to late '70s with a lineup that stabilized by the time of the group's second album. L'Araignee Mal (1975) included vocalist/percussionist André Balzer, guitarist Christian Beya, bassist Jean-Luc Thillot, keyboard player Michel Taillet, and drummer Alain Gozzo. Gradually commercializing its sound beginning with third album Tertio, Atoll released only one more studio album (plus a compilation) before breaking up. In the late '80s, however, a new, pop-oriented version appeared. Including only Beya from the previous lineup, the band released L'Ocean and the live album Tokyo C'est Fini (both 1989).

A chamber opera about love, based on texts by Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre - that’s what Rene Wohlhauser wanted to compose in the spring of 2014. When Sartre’s estate categorically refused permission for the texts to be used, Wohlhauser refused to abandon the project. He replaced Sartre’s words with his own sound poetry and stated a concertante version of the work with Ensemble Polysono. This CD documents this production in the form of a studio recording.

Flemish composer Johan Huys is equally proficient on all keyboard instruments, but he is best known as a harpsichordist. He was president of the competition at the MA Festival Bruges for 39 years. For this worldfamous competition, which is inextricably linked to him, he composed several pieces for harpsichord, including the compulsory work for the 2018 harpsichord competition: Ceci n’est pas une passacaille. Here, his former pupil Guy Penson has recorded this piece and other outstanding harpsichord works by Johan Huys.
