Established in 1952, the Munich Radio Orchestra has developed into a body engaged in a wide spectrum of musical activity. There have been gala concerts and opera concert performances in particular, under the direction of Marcello Viotti, as well as a Paradisi Gloria series devoted to the sacred music of the 20th century, concerts for children and young people, and theme evenings.

"Giacomo Puccini wrote only a few works for voice with piano accompaniment. Eleven songs were published during his lifetime; others remained lost for over a century. In 2010, a first critical edition of the total of sixteen vocal compositions was presented. Several of them are closely related to Puccini's operas and had already been written during his studies in Milan.

Guido Alberto Fano’s vocal chamber works form an important part of his musical output and mark the three crucial phases of his artistic growth. His earliest songs date from the last years of the 19th century, during his period of training and the start of his musical career in Bologna, using texts by local poets such as Angelina de Leva, Luigi Arturo Bresciani and Giuseppe Lipparini. Then, during the first fifteen years of the 20th century, his most “experimental” years, Fano began to draw inspiration from some of the most distinguished names in Italian poetry, including Boccaccio, Carducci and Pascoli.

Steps is an ongoing “compositional travelling companion”. Already into five large volumes with more to come. The series is dedicated to the young pianist (Giuseppe Modugno) whose precocious playing helped rekindle Peter Seabourne’s compositional spark after a thirteen year silence. Fabio Menchetti is the highly talented pianist on this next creative volume of Pete Seaborne’s work.

This debut CD of L'Estro d'Orfeo ensemble takes its title Altri Canti d'Amor from a madrigal found in Claudio Monteverdi's Eighth Book of Madrigals. The program focuses on the music of the Italian Seicento and more precisely on the schools of northern Italy; mainly the Venetian school. It combines both instrumental and vocal pieces - the latter in instrumental versions - connected to the subject of 'love'.

Solo concertos are often a fruit of musical friendships between composers and performers. This is the case of Canti Amadei, and the inspirer, great Russian cellist Ivan Monighetti, once described the circumstances in which it happened.
