Though no one talked about it at the time of its release, this album reflected a growing split within the group. Originally, the trio's members, tired of sublimating their musical identities within the context of ELP, each intended to do a solo album of his own…

Although it was technically the band's second show together, rock historians generally regard this performance as the real debut of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. The first ELP album was still months away and no one in the crowd had ever heard of the band or its music, but the trio put on a great show that was touted as a huge popular and critical success…

Emerson, Lake & Palmer's 1970 eponymous LP was only a rehearsal. It hit hard because of the novelty of the act (allegedly the first supergroup in rock history), but felt more like a collection of individual efforts and ideas than a collective work. All doubts were dissipated by the release of Tarkus in 1971…

After the heavily distorted bass and doomsday church organ of Emerson, Lake & Palmer's debut album, the exhilarating prog rock of epic proportions on Tarkus, and the violent removal of the sacred aura of classical tunes on Pictures at an Exhibition, Trilogy, ELP's fourth album, features the trio settling down in more crowd-pleasing pastures. Actually, the group was gaining in maturity what they lost in raw energy….

I was very pleasantly surprised by this disc. I had never heard of Palmer, but the band… man, the band looked killer. And they are, while Palmer himself is drawing here more from the Larry Young bag than the Jimmy Smith or Jack McDuff, etc., thing. This is jazz, not soul-jazz.

Import-only three CD set containing a trio of classic albums from one of Prog Rock's biggest acts. This set includes the albums Live In Poland, Live At The Royal Albert Hall and Live At Isle Of Wight Festival 1970.
Isle of Wight Festival 1970: Recorded at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970 and released on CD in 1997. At this concert ELP played Pictures at an Exhibition.
Live at the Royal Albert Hall: Known for their on-stage energy and full-force musical prowess, Live at the Royal Albert Hall is the farthest from disappointment a live album can get. Each member of ELP exhibits his individual talents on this astonishing audio spectacle that doesn't let up at any point. Spearheading the 11 songs on the album that runs almost 70 minutes is keyboardist Keith Emerson, whose earsplitting synthesizer rumbles and squeals with devastating vigor.

In 1977, after three years' time off working on various solo projects – which were to have culminated with a trio of solo albums – Emerson, Lake & Palmer reunited to release Works, Vol. 1, a double LP containing the best of the solo works plus a side of group-conceived pieces. All in all, it was the most ambitious and wide-ranging body of music they'd ever released, and was followed by the more modestly proportioned but still successful Works, Vol. 2 in November of that year, and a tour that fall and winter; in keeping with the albums that spawned it, the concerts initially featured a 90-piece orchestra supporting the trio.

Folk, Americana | MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 00:47:46 | 116 MB
Label: Eight Foot Records | Release Year: 2016

2016 debut collaboration between ex-Dresden Dolls vocalist Amanda Palmer & her dad Jack, covering songs by Leonard Cohen, John Grant, Richard Thompson, Sinead O'Connor, Phil Ochs & others. Before she had her baby, Amanda Palmer was terrified that, when she’d had him, she’d 'play nice folk songs'. Now, as she joked to her audience at Koko last month, by making this record with her dad Jack Palmer, 'lo and behold…' Her hope, she continued, was that she was 'exorcising this thing like a satanic demon'. But for some reason, You Got Me Singing doesn’t feel as incongruous with the rest of her self-described 'punk cabaret' body of work as she seems to think. Maybe because categorising her work before You Got Me Singing was never really that simple. She was always making music that felt right to her, and that’s what she’s doing now.

Originally released in 1970, the debut album from the newly formed supergroup combined musicianship and showmanship in a glowing ball or energy. The keyboard-dominated instrumentals and romantic ballads clearly showcased each of the three members' individual talents, and demonstrated the variety of influences each artist brought with them to the band…
