2017 debut album for singer/songwriter/producer Charlotte Dos Santos. Born in Norway, Charlotte combines soul, jazz, rare groove and Afro-Latin influences, with a warm sense of storytelling and an angelic voice that seems to float over any track it's on. Currently based in Brooklyn, NY - Charlotte has been making waves as of late with sentimentally-timeless singles and keen visual aesthetic. Now Charlotte makes good on all of the potential she's shown thus far with the release of her debut project, Cleo.
In Minas Gerais, a region which still enjoyed great opulence in the late eighteenth century thanks to the discovery of gold there, Antonio dos Santos Cunha practised a vivid style of composition, with all the hallmarks of Baroque rhetoric combined with musical resources deriving from Italian opera, and spiced with a tropical ‘Sturm und Drang’, thus adding his own dramatic and intense setting to the canon of Passion music.
Continuing her streak of outstanding releases, guitarist extraordinaire Mary Halvorson once again shows her determination to build upon her unique style as a composer and bandleader. She's taken her septet from 2013's superb Illusionary Sea and added an eighth member, pedal steel guitarist Susan Alcorn, and the resulting music is typical Halvorson: harmonically complex, emotionally compelling, and full of interesting moments worth savoring.
Away from the World is the eighth studio album by Dave Matthews Band (DMB), slated for release on September 11, 2012. Steve Lillywhite produced Away from the World, which marks his first released studio album with the band since 1998's Before These Crowded Streets. A series of failed sessions with Lillywhite led to the leaked Lillywhite Sessions in 2001 and Lillywhite's departure from the band's work.
