Charlotte Fromenteau

Charlotte Yates is a recording artist based in Wellington, New Zealand where she has released five albums of her own material on Jayrem Records. Her first album Queen Charlotte Sounds was released in 1991. The single Red Letter was an APRA Silver Scroll finalist.

Sometimes it takes a personal tragedy to catalyse an artist’s practise, a crack in everything, to paraphrase Leonard Cohen, that let’s the creative light in. Just such a traumatic fissure occurred in Charlotte Gainsbourg’s life in late 2013 with the sudden death in Paris of her half-sister, the fashion photographer Kate Barry. Reeling from the news and inevitably plunged into an extended period of grieving, the distressing event had transpired just as Charlotte was initiating activity on a new album, the successor to 2010’s IRM.

Dead & Company is an American rock band consisting of former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir (guitar and vocals), Mickey Hart (drums), and Bill Kreutzmann (drums), along with John Mayer (guitar and vocals), Oteil Burbridge (bass, percussion, and vocals), and Jeff Chimenti (keyboards).

The Grateful Dead bid adieu to their faithful fans with a series of concerts in 2015 called Fare Thee Well. The shows, held in Santa Clara and Chicago, were billed as the last time the Dead alumni would share the stage together but, in typical Dead fashion, several members reconsidered that notion upon the project's conclusion. Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart harbored the desire to carry on, but Phil Lesh declined the opportunity to return to the road, leaving the trio with the task of replacing their bassist in addition to finding a substitute for Jerry Garcia (Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio filled that role for Fare Thee Well, but decided to return to his main gig). John Mayer – a newer convert to the Dead who struck up a friendship with Weir – was recruited to play guitar, bassist Oteil Burbridge was hired alongside keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, and this new incarnation of the Dead was dubbed Dead & Company. Following a Halloween unveiling in 2015, Dead & Company set out on the road in 2016. The tour went so well, the band headed back out on the road in the fall of 2017, followed by a summer tour in 2018.

While Charlotte Wessels earlier solo endeavors, full-length song compilations ‘Tales From Six Feet Under‘ (2021) and ‘Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II‘ (2022), already gained Wessels a remarkable number of devotees, resulting in thousands of monthly listeners on Spotify and a loyal fanbase on Patreon, ‘The Obsession‘ (20.09.24 via Napalm Records) truly takes her solo career to the next level.

Fables, the new album by Charlotte Reinhardt, unveils an intriguing and enigmatic universe. Coming from the family of the legendary Django Reinhardt, each piece tells a story, from the single Obermann to the enchanting El Laberinto de Angel.

On this inventively programmed, deeply personal album, Charlotte Saluste-Bridoux and her duo partner Joseph Havlat interleave three major Schubert works for violin and piano with instrumental versions of his songs, in juxtapositions which bring out both connections and contrasts between them.

New and somewhat cheaper version of this box set first released in 2007, in only slightly less elaborate packaging. It is certainly surprising that until now an exhaustive recognition of the work of Charlotte Moorman has not been undertaken. The cellist can be numbered among the most charismatic and influential protagonists to have appeared on the avant-garde or experimental music scenes since the early '60s. A documentation of her activities as a performer is generally available only in various catalogues which document the crucial intersection with the work of Nam June Paik, or the association with manifestations and events connected with the so exquisitely realistic gestures of the Fluxus movement. To have accepted the transformation of herself into a "living icon" through the works realized in collaboration with Paik, has perhaps contributed to obscure a part of her individuality.

Jazz as a second love after a beautiful lyrical story, it is in her image that she surrounds herself with musicians from her various formations to write and realize her first album “Petite” released in October 2021, on the Blang Music label.
