Claire Gore

On a Claire Day is an internationally syndicated comic strip created by Henry Beckett and Carla Ventresca and launched in 2006. It is based around the life of fictional character Claire Bennett, an insecure and naive young woman, who has left her parents' home to live on her own. She is accompanied by her dog Bradley and visits frequently with Sammi, her elegant, financially savvy, and impatient best friend; Jeff, her guy's guy neighbor, who's happy working construction and doesn't understand Claire's ambition or life issues; her "out there" Oprah-fanatic mom and her "work hard or you're worth nothing" dad; and the perfect neighbors, Pasha and James, who seem to do everything with an ease and flair Claire can't achieve or imagine possessing herself. On a Claire Day is distributed by Creators Syndicate in Los Angeles. It runs in many newspapers around the country and is being developed into a television show.

Nacida en Nantes en el seno de una familia de la pequeña burguesía, Claire Bretécher trabajó brevemente como profesora de bachillerato antes de iniciar su carrera como historietista. Desde principios de los años 60 trabaja como ilustradora realizando trabajos para diferentes periódicos del Grupo Bayard.

Nuevamente regresamos con un one shot de la editorial Avatar Press, el cual nos lleva a conocer más a fondo la historia de la promiscua, ruin, despreciable, lujuriosa y sexualmente sugestiva Claire, la esposa del mismo demonio, el cual ya todos conocemos bajo el nombre Mefistófeles, o formalmente llamado M. Claire como bien pudimos observar en el libro de M, es una mujer de origen alemán que trabajaba al servicio de los nazis como una de sus armas más mortíferas, todo fue así hasta que conoció al afamado consorte que se encargó de convertirla en algo que va más allá de los límites humanos (y también sexuales) introduciendo en la saga de Faust a uno de los personajes más emblemáticos e importantes que tiene este universo.

Relaciones amorosas, familiares, de amistad… El trabajo, el colegio, la religión, los choques generacionales y entre sexos… Estos temas y más pueden dar para muchas frustraciones, pero Claire Brétécher supo retratarlas con humor a su inimitable estilo. Añadamos su visión del mundillo intelectual burgués de París de la época (años 70) y la evolución del papel de la mujer en ese momento y tendremos un cóctel que engancha: da igual los años que pasen, seas hombre, mujer o no binario… Con cualquiera de estas situaciones, te sentirás de algún modo identificad@, incluso aunque no te represente directamente.
