Todd Rundgren's best-known songs – the Carole King pastiche "I Saw the Light," the ballads "Hello, It's Me" and "Can We Still Be Friends," and the goofy novelty "Bang on the Drum All Day" – suggest that he is a talented pop craftsman, but nothing more than that. On one level, that perception is true since he is undoubtedly a gifted pop songwriter, but at his core, Rundgren is a rock & roll maverick. Once he had a taste of success with his 1972 masterwork Something/Anything?, he chose to abandon stardom and, with it, conventional pop music.

The Memphis Horns are the quintessential Memphis music combination - Andrew Love, tall, black and as mellow as one of his tenor solos; Wayne Jackson, short, white and as intense as one of his trumpet blasts. Together they were reared in all that Memphis music had to offer. Wayne got his start across the River in his hometown of West Memphis, Arkansas, strumming the guitar and singing in childhood talent shows. Andrew began his career playing “Amazing Grace” in Memphis’ Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, where his father, Roy, was the preacher. Wayne took up trumpet after his mother gave him one at age 11 and began playing in the junior and senior high school school bands. From there, the two future partners’ lives moved along parallel lines.

When Fran Healy sings "Why did we wait so long" on "Mother," the opening song on Travis' seventh album, he could be addressing his band, which spent nearly five years between 2008's Ode to J. Smith and its 2013 follow-up, Where You Stand. The extra time off has done the band some good. Toward the end of the 2000s, Travis started to sag under their own weight, as the group slowly grew more ponderous, and while it certainly can't be said that Where You Stand is effervescent, it is more nimble than either Ode or The Boy with No Name, and it boasts a greater variety of tempos and textures, as well.

Grand Tour hail from Glascow, Scotland and we shouldn't accuse anyone if talking about them as being COMEDY OF ERRORS in disguise, with all members having served or still serving the nearby Neo Prog veterans. The band was formed in 2005 by Abel Ganz'es Hew Montgomery, at a time he was feeling the Ganzes; new direction was not his preference and wanted to start a new project, of which he would have full responsibilty.

In 1973, inspired by the burgeoning new music scene at the Mercer Arts Centre, Stein sought to join a band. He was accepted in 1973 by the Stillettoes as their guitarist and almost immediately formed a romantic relationship with one of the band's vocalists, Debbie Harry. In July 1974, Stein and Harry parted ways with the Stillettoes and formed a new group with band-mates Billy O'Connor (drums) and Fred Smith (bass). They had renamed themselves Blondie by October 1974. The band's first commercial success came in Australia in 1977, when the music television program Countdown mistakenly played their video In the Flesh, B-side of their then current single X-Offender.

Spirogyra was formed by duo Martin Cockerham and Mark Francis in Bolton in 1968, but the band expanded when Cockerham was a student in Canterbury at the end of 1969. The expanded line-up featured Cockerham (guitar, vocals), Barbara Gaskin (lead vocals), Steve Borrill (bass) and Julian Cusack (violin, keyboards) and secured a contract with B&C Records in 1970. The band’s impressive debut album, ‘St Radigunds’ was issued in 1971 and featured guest drummer Dave Mattacks and Tony Cox on VCS3 Synthesiser.
