I wrote 'Colours In The Dark' after an extended period of complete musical inactivity. Earlier in the year, I suffered with depression for the first time in my life, which really shook me. I've always battled with anxiety, but this was on a whole different level.

Following up on the success of the multi-platinum and gold awarded previous records “My Winterstorm” (2007) and “What Lies Beneath” (2010), Tarja finally returns with her long-awaited new rock album. “Colours In The Dark” will be released on August 23rd, 2013 via earMUSIC, the label which also released “Act I”.Mixed by Tim Palmer in Austin, Texas (Pearl Jam, U2), the songs on “Colours In The Dark” do not shy away from taking a risk and surprising musical turns, introducing new sounds and new musical atmospheres. Still, they maintain a heaviness that will surely bring a big smile to the hardest of rockers.With its grand orchestra and choir arrangements, Tarja’s next milestone emphasises once again the impressive vocal range of the Finnish artist and shows her artistic growth.

Agricola was already considered one of the 'old masters' soon after his death in 1506. His works were approached with veneration and, already in the early 16th century, regarded as examples of good and demanding counterpoint. As a member of the first generation of genuinely instrumental composers, he wrote not only the masses, motets and chansons that were customary during this period, but also a large number of works without text that were obviously created for instruments by virtue of their construction. As a result, his musical rhetoric went considerably farther than his otherwise congenial colleagues Josquin Desprez and Heinrich Isaac, and he composed instru¬mental works that were far ahead of his time.

Three Colours Dark - the new project from Rachel Cohen - singer/songwriter (Karnataka & The Reasoning) + Jonathan Edwards - musician/songwriter (Panic Room, Luna Rossa & Karnataka). The album features 9 original songs and a haunting cover of the Richard Thompson classic Ghosts In The Wind. Rachel and Jon are joined on the album by multi-instrumentalist Tim Hamill and special guests Dave Gregory (XTC/Big Big Train), Steve Balsamo (ChimpanA/The Storys), trumpet player Nathan Bray (Paloma Faith/Mke Rutherford) and others. Musical influences from Prog to Folk and Jazz to Pop blend seamlessly with the duo's own unique sound.
