"Love Language" was the eighth album by R&B/Soul crooner Teddy Pendergrass. It was his first record for Asylum Records after being a longtime artist on Philadelphia International Records. It did much better on the Billboard 200 than his last two records, peaking at #38. He had not reached the top 40 on the album charts since 1981's It's Time for Love. The album was composed and produced by Michael Masser, with the exception of the track You're My Choice Tonight (Choose Me) (#15 R&B chart, November 3, 1984), which was produced by Luther Vandross and featured Cissy Houston on background vocals and as "Solo Female Voice".

He was a member of the band Lyrix in the ‘80s, but left, eventually issuing a solo record, "Vision", in 1986. Following its release, Eaton shifted his focus to less prominent, yet intrinsic roles in the music industry. As a songwriter, his songs have been performed and recorded by a myriad of Christian artists, including Susan Ashton and Margaret Becker, as well as numerous notable artists in other genres such as Sheena Easton, Vince Gill, and Boney James.

Whenever there is some type of event where the DJ is spinning old-school soul, funk, and disco - an event that could be taking place anywhere from Cherry Hill, NJ to Newcastle, England - one question that inevitably comes up a lot is "Whatever happened to?" You know, whatever happened to McFadden & Whitehead (sadly, both died in the 2000s), or whatever happened to Teena Marie? ("Lady T" came out with an album called Sapphire in 2006.) And if the DJ is playing crowd-pleasers like 1977's "Shame" or 1982's "Love Come Down," someone inevitably wonders what Evelyn "Champagne" King has been up to. King flew under the radar in the '90s and early 2000s, but admirers of the Bronx native's '70s and '80s hits will be glad to know that she is in generally good form on her 2007 comeback album Open Book.
