Giving voice to the anguish of a nation fighting for its soul, Usmar Ismail’s After the Curfew follows the descent into disillusionment of a former freedom fighter who is unable to readjust to civilian life following the revolution that gave Indonesia its independence from the Netherlands. Steeped in moody atmospherics and psychological tension, the film struck its national cinema like a bolt of lightning, illuminating on-screen, for the first time and with unflinching realism, the emotional toll of Indonesian society’s postcolonial struggles.

There has never been a filmmaker like Marlon Riggs: an unapologetic gay Black man who defied a culture of silence and shame to speak his truth with resounding joy and conviction. An early adopter of video technology, Riggs employed a bold mix of documentary, performance, poetry, and music in order to confront the devastating legacy of racist stereotypes, the impact of AIDS on his community, and the very definition of what it means to be Black. Bringing together Riggs’s complete films—including his controversy-inciting queer landmark Tongues Untied and Black Is . . . Black Ain’t, the deeply personal swan song that was completed after his death at the age of thirty-seven—The Signifyin’ Works of Marlon Riggs traces the artistic and political evolution of a transformative filmmaker whose work is both an electrifying call for liberation and an invaluable historical document.

Imagine the cave where music was born. In the introduction to their 9th studio album "HUMAN. II: NATURE.", NIGHTWISH take us all the way back to this ancient place and time when bashing rocks became rhythm and voice turned into harmonies. In the course of the millennia, this amazing cultural achievement evolved via Bach and Beethoven into blues, rock and heavy metal – a mental journey that the Finns trace in their upcoming full-length’s first song, ‘Music’.

This world premiere recording offers a significant representation of the approaches, technical solutions, styles and innovations used by Sammartini in his keyboard music. The programme does not follow a chronological order but rather the performers personal criterion. A pianist and harpsichordist, Simonetta Heger teaches at the Milan Conservatory. She is an active international concert performer on both instruments, as soloist and in ensembles. Her repertoire ranges from the 1600s to contemporary music.

Universal organs often have the problem of not being particularly suitable for either baroque or symphonic music. The organ of Daniel Kern in the Frauenkirche in Dresden stands out here as an example of an outstandingly successful bridge between organ traditions. The criterion for the choice of instrument for the present recording of Antonín Dvorák's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" in the version for organ four hands transcribed by Pascal Kaufmann was the good drawing ability of characteristic 8' and 4' basic voices.
