One of the most powerful Islamic militant groups in Africa, Al-Shabaab exerts Taliban-like rule over millions in Somalia and poses a growing threat to stability in the Horn of Africa. Somalis risk retaliation or death if they oppose or fail to comply with Al-Shabaab-imposed restrictions on aspects of everyday life such as clothing, media, sports, interpersonal relations, and prayer.

Oriental Black Metal

Al-Namrood was formed in January 2008 with the aim to create something unusual and unique to the metal scene in general and for BM- scene in particular. Bandmates were Mukadars ( former vocalist ) and Ostron ( our keyboard player ) , they had a great desire to play the traditional oriental music with Dark themes and evil atmosphere. They began to do so in 2007 , and soon they will have a few suggestions which could easily be combined with metal music. Sometime in late 2007 Ostron met Mephisto, who already had their BM- project Mephisophilus. They offered him to join the Eastern group as a guitarist ( while in the group did not have a guitarist and bassist ) . Mephisto loved the idea and Ostron Mukadars. He suggested putting two styles : Oriental music and Black Metal, as these styles would be harmonized perfectly with each other. And so in 2008 the group was formed , performing Oriental Black Metal, called Al-Namrood.

This is the 4th solo album from rock and roll wunderkind Al Kooper. He congregates two very distinct bands - one in London and the other in Los Angeles - to accompany some of his most emotive compositions to date. This is ironic when considering the title track is a paean to the Big Apple. The UK aggregate consists of musicians from Hookfoot, including Herbie Flowers (bass), Caleb Quay (guitar) and Roger Pope (drums). The band were fresh from several collaborations with Elton John, most notably his third studio effort Tumbleweed Connection.

Along the Atlantic coast, a soon-to-be-inaugurated futuristic tower looms over a suburb of Dakar. Ada, 17, is in love with Souleiman, a young construction worker. But she has been promised to another man. One night, Souleiman and his co-workers leave the country by sea, in hope of a better future. Several days later, a fire ruins Ada’s wedding and a mysterious fever starts to spread. Little does Ada know that Souleiman has returned. In her feature debut, Mati Diop continues to harness fantasy and social relevancy in this haunting tale of love. "This shape-shifting Senegalese drama is pure cinematic poetry. Slipping in and out of modes with a magician’s confidence, Atlantics is mysterious and mythic, with a wizardly use of sound and some unforgettable images.” (The Telegraph, Tim Robey)

Al Manfredi, born to a musical family of Italian immigrants in the small SoCal beach town of San Clemente, found regional success with his garage rock band Lost & Found while he was still a teenager. The tragic deaths of two of the band’s members in the late 60s shook Manfredi to his core, and he gave up on the band scene completely, retreating to his family’s music store, and working on music in private, multi-tracking demos of growing prowess on primitive recording equipment.
