The summer of 1967 was a cultural milestone, drawing as many as 100,000 young people to the Haight-Ashbury neighbourhood of San Francisco. The social phenomena was a convergence of free thinking, hippie fashion, political upheaval, sexual freedom, drug use and creative expression. This movement spread to other cities around the US and around the world. The Grateful Dead were at the cultural epicenter of the scene at Haight-Ashbury and the Summer of Love. This is a new compilation of core Grateful Dead tracks from this period.

“The Best of the Grateful Dead” kicks off the 50th anniversary of the Dead. This is the first time that there has been a 2 CD best of collection. The existing “The Very Best of the Grateful Dead” is a single disc of tracks selected based on the popularity/sales of the tracks. This new collection has been compiled to highlight classic favorites from a fan point of view.

The name “drama” came to us when reflecting on the EP and thinking “wow, we sound dramatic as hell on these songs, don’t we?” “drama” conveys more moods and feels than our previous work —like that sinking feeling knowing that it’s time to end a relationship; old friendships in despair; hyper-irrational crushes; and losing one’s sense of identity–all voiced on the EP.

Before the Dead is an album by Jerry Garcia. It is a compilation of early recordings of Garcia playing folk and bluegrass music with various other musicians. The recordings were made from 1961 to 1964, before Garcia co-founded the rock band the Grateful Dead. Produced as a four-CD box set, and also as a five-LP limited edition box set, it was released on May 11, 2018.

Back in 1987, Minneapolis rock and roll renegades The Replacements famously stole their Twin/Tone master tapes and threw them in the Mississippi River. A year later while wrapping up work on their Warner Bros. album, Don't Tell A Soul the group absconded with a collection of their reels from Paisley Park studios. Thankfully, those tapes were spared a watery fate, and instead stashed away for decades by the band. Now they’ve been recovered to form the basis of The Replacements first-ever boxed set, Dead Man's Pop.

The Twelfth Symphony forms an exception in Allan Pettersson’s output. When he agreed to compose a work for the 500th anniversary of Uppsala University, it was one of the few commissions that he ever accepted. Having written purely orchestral scores for the past 30 years, he decided to incorporate a choir and a text. Pablo Neruda had received the Nobel Prize in 1971, and acknowledging the poet’s ‘deeply felt compassion for the outcasts of society’, Pettersson selected nine poems from the huge collection Canto general for his new work.
