.When Ritchie Blackmore departed Deep Purple in the mid-'70s and formed Rainbow (which featured Ronnie James Dio), his replacement was Tommy Bolin. To be sure, Blackmore was a darn tough act to follow, but Bolin proved himself to be a fine guitarist in his own right on Come Taste the Band, his first album with Deep Purple. But unfortunately, Bolin didn't have exceptional material to work with – decent and likable, but hardly exceptional..

"Come Taste The Band" is the 10th studio album by the English rock band Deep Purple, originally released in October 1975. It was co-produced and engineered by the band and longtime associate Martin Birch. It was the final Deep Purple studio record prior to the band's initial disbandment in 1976, therefore making it the only album to feature Tommy Bolin, who replaced Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, and the final of three albums to feature David Coverdale on lead vocals and Glenn Hughes on bass, as none of the three would be involved with the reactivated Deep Purple in 1984. Generally the record is considered one of Deep Purple's lesser efforts, although it did sell reasonably well on release (#19 in the UK charts, and #43 in the US) and received a rave review in the leading British music paper New Musical Express. The album was certified Silver on 1 November 1975 by the BPI, selling 60,000 copies in the UK.

While sweaty yet melodic cuts like "Dealer," "Lady Luck," and "You Keep on Moving" are far from bad, nothing here is in a class with "Smoke on the Water" or "Highway Star." Deep Purple's more hardcore devotees will want this album, though it's far from the best representation of their '70s work.

orway's COME TASTE THE BAND (CTTB for sake of ease) is of course named after that legendary DEEP PURPLE album of the same name. Makes sense, seeing as they were originally a DP tribute band. From the beginning of "Not That Kind of Man" it is obvious where their main influence lays. The transitions, solos, song cord progression are so Purple MIII it fooled my nephew. Not to say it's bad, quite the opposite; it's actually well written and performed, just not ground breaking or terribly original…

Live in Paris 1975 is a live album by the British hard rock band Deep Purple, recorded in 1975 at the Palais des Sports in Paris. It was meant to be released before the 1975 Come Taste the Band album, but was not released until 2001 by Purple Records. In early 1975, the guitarist Ritchie Blackmore recorded his first album, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow with Rainbow and decided to leave Deep Purple. This made the band's show in Paris on 7 April 1975 a historic moment in their long career, marking Blackmore's final appearance with the band until the band reformed in 1984. The set took in tracks from Burn, Stormbringer and Machine Head/Made in Japan, and featured the band's Mk III line up for the last time. It was also the last time Deep Purple ever played the songs "The Gypsy", "Lady Double Dealer", "Mistreated" and "You Fool No One" live, though Rainbow and Whitesnake have played "Mistreated" in concert, and Whitesnake has played "Lady Double Dealer" on their early concerts.

Here is the Band Captured on their 25th Anniversary Tour (With the Original Mkii Lineup for Ardent Fans) Live in Birmingham, England. This Performance is the Same Concert that was Featured on the Dvd Presentation "Come Hell Or High Water". Just a Few Nights Later and Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore Would Desert this Monumental Reunion Tour, Never to Return to the Band Again. Thus, this Concert is to Be Held all the More Dear by Longtime Fans, as the Band was Tight and Consistently Hit their Marks on this Night. Drummer Ian Paice was Heard to Say "it Works Extremely Well Or it Doesn't Work at All". It Really Worked this Night!
