Dolly has been recording regularly since the mid-60s and almost every major hit she has ever had (and quite a few minor ones too) she wrote or co-wrote. With more than 50 albums since 1967 under her belt, it's remarkable how energized and even essential Dolly Parton sounds on Run, Rose, Run. Right from the start, the bluegrass stomp "Run" finds the 76-year-old vibrant on the breathless "runrunrunrunrunrunrunrun" chorus, fiddles sawing and percussion racing. It's an anthem of liberation: "You want to keep the hounds at bay, don't give up you'll find a way/ Refuse to be controlled by anyone/ And the walls that you run into, break ‘em down you know you have two/ choices you can stay or run." "Driven," meanwhile, sounds like the hardworking, pioneering Parton's ethos: "Driven to be smarter, driven to work harder," she sings over hustling, bustling fiddle and drums, turning the lyrics into a cheer as she verbally claps out each word: "One! Thing! You! Can! Say! For! Me! I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I'm driven!" (She may be a hero now, but don't forget she was underestimated as a dumb blonde for a long time.)

"Just Between You and Me" is Porter Wagoner & Dolly Parton's first duet album, released in January 1968, shortly after Parton joined Wagoner's band and became a regular on his weekly television show. The album's single was a cover of Tom Paxton's "The Last Thing on My Mind"; the album and the single reached the top ten on the country albums and singles charts, respectively. The title song, written by Jack Clement, had been a top-ten hit for Charley Pride earlier in 1967. Parton originally wrote "Put it Off Until Tomorrow" for artist Bill Phillips.

‘The Complete Album Collection… and a little bit more!’ brings all ten albums together, plus many rare bonus tracks, of which many have not been available for over 35 years. Most albums have their first official release in this boxset.It contains 141 tracks on ten CDs, of which 58 were previously unavailable officially on CD. In addition to the albums, the 10-CD boxset also contains 12” versions, B-sides, single versions and foreign releases. The Dolly Dots recorded a French-language single for the French market. Different versions of 'P.S.' appeared in America. Also in Japan and on various singles, versions were heard that were different from those on the albums. In the archives one recording has also been found especially for this CD box, that has never been released before: the classic 'Sloop John B.'.
