It must be that Eric Hansson plays a lot of blues but this is a rather varied and relatively rocky album here. When the songs were written and recorded, Eric and the band let the heart control rather than sift out songs by theme. The important thing in creating I Feel Like Crying was to collect songs with their own intrinsic meaning and story. The result was a mixed disc with a wider selection. Eric's Bluesband has been running since 1999. During his career Eric Hansson has had gigs in places like the 100 Club in London and Buddy Guy's Legend in Chicago. Eric has played with and collaborated with artists such as Clas Yngström, Alan Haynes, Jimmy Zavala, Slidin's Slim and Rocking Johnny. When he has not been the main artist, he has warmed up for musicians such as Joe Bonnamassa, Dave Hole and the National Theater Rock Orchestra.

Elmore's last great recordings occurred in the 1960s when he was signed by New York producer/label-owner Bobby Robinson (Fire, Fury & Enjoy Records). Unlike many of his contemporaries, James seemingly got better as the years progressed. These recordings have surfaced on so many different compilations - all with varying levels of sound quality. Fortunately, to make things easier we have this three-disc 58-song box set rounding up at least one extant take of everything Elmore recorded with Robinson at the helm. Along with standards, "Dust My Broom," "The Sky Is Crying" the classic "One Way Out," the majority of this box set breaks new ground and stands as some of Elmore's most emotion-laden work. Included our Elmore's last sessions before his death and several tracks he cut as a session guitarist for Bobby Robinson. On May 24, 1963, James suffered a heart attack, which took his life at the age of 45.

Celebrated LA based noise rock band Liars have a new album on the way that is apparently titled "Theme from Crying Fountain". It's the band's eighth album and the first with the band becoming Angus Andrew's solo project (since the departure of Aaron Hemphill). This will be the band's first album since 2014's "Mess". "TFCF" was heavily teased through teaser videos over the course of several months. Now thanks to a Danish iMusic posting, we know the album is coming August 25th through Mute.

In 1977 at the culmination of a brilliant career, Ralph Bass recorded a series of ten very brief and informal sessions – a survey of the then-lesser-known talent on the Chicago blues scene. Bass had launched the careers of T-Bone Walker, James Brown, Little Esther and others. Delmark is proud to add these sessions, many previously available only as imports, to its renowned blues catalog. Many artists participating in the Ralph Bass series have since earned worldwide renown, including Lonnie Brooks, Jimmy Johnson, Carey Bell, and Eddy Clearwater. Though certainly deserving, Lacy Gibson has yet to achieve an equally exalted status in the blues scene — but he plans to be active again in music. Until he gets a new album together we can enjoy this late ’70s gem.
