Featuring 16 #1 Country hits and thirty-five Top 10 hits from the "Gentle Giant" of Country. Tracks include "You're My Best Friend," "Love Me Over Again," "Good Ole Boys Like Me," "Heartbeat in the Darkness," "Lord, I Hope This Is a Good Day" and many more. In his heyday, fans went to Don Williams concerts like they went to church–quietly, reverently. They might approach this set, with its 16 No. 1 hits, with similar devotion. The skeletal, small-band country-folk sound frames his guileless baritone so delicately that one could make a case for Williams as one of the fathers of New Age music. But these singles, no matter how soft and simple, refuse to recede into the background. That's partly because of the sing-along melodies, but mostly because he conveys these lyrics–which could be artsy ("Good Ole Boys Like Me") or brazenly direct even by Nashville standards ("You're My Best Friend")–with irresistible warmth, intimacy, and empathy. Forty songs may add up to more time than you care to spend in church in one sitting, but if you have this, you'll never need another Williams CD. –John Morthland

“How Time Passes”; “New Ideas”; “Essence”; plus 4 tracks featuring Don Ellis from the Charles Mingus album “Dynasty”
Three early albums from vastly under-rated trumpeter, composer and bandleader Don Ellis showing the direction he was to follow over the next fifteen years or so before his tragically early death at age, just 44! If you check out the names of the guys Don was playing with in the early sixties it will give you a clue as to where his music was heading. In New York, Don had met fellow jazz searchers like Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy and George Russell. On our three selections you will hear him playing with a new breed of upcoming jazz men like Jaki Byard, Ron Carter…

In another of those two-fers that are going to tangle discographies for some time to come, this bears the title of a Don Patterson album, The Boss Men, and includes all of the material from that LP. However, this CD, though it's also called The Boss Men, is billed to both Sonny Stitt and Don Patterson, and combines the original Patterson The Boss Men LP with another album cut in 1965, Night Crawler, that was billed to Sonny Stitt, although it featured the exact same lineup (Stitt on alto sax, Patterson on organ, Billy James on drums) as The Boss Men. Not only that, the CD adds two cuts from a Patterson 1964 LP, Patterson's People, also featuring the Stitt-Patterson-James trio. As for the original The Boss Men, it's a respectable straight-ahead jazz-with-organ session…

World's Greatest Ukulele Stylist is a 1962 album by ukulele player Don Baduria. While it is said he is not Hawaiian but a Filipino musician, his playing stood out for those who wanted to discover the sounds of a land that had just been turned into the 50th state in 1959. This explores his style of playing, where he does a few traditional songs, Pacific favorites and a few American standards although the album's opening song exploits the country's brand new space race exploration. This instrumental album was released by Bertram International and is a vinyl rip.

First time reissue of this forgotten album of Don Cherry. This album was recorded in 1978 in Paris and released only in France in 1981. That was the first meeting between Don Cherry and Indian percussionist Latif Khan and the result is an incredible mixture of jazz and Indian music. This unsung album is only known by hardcore fans of Don cherry who considered it as one of his best effort.

Donald McLean is an American singer-songwriter, best known for his 1971 hit song "American Pie", an 8-and-a-half-minute folk rock "cultural touchstone" about the loss of innocence of the early rock and roll generation. His other hit singles include "Vincent", "Dreidel", a rendition of Roy Orbison's "Crying", a rendition of the Skyliners' "Since I Don't Have You", and "Wonderful Baby". McLean's composition "And I Love You So" has been recorded by Elvis Presley, Perry Como, Helen Reddy, Glen Campbell, and others, and in 2000, Madonna had a hit with a rendition of "American Pie". In 2004, McLean was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In January 2018, BMI certified that "American Pie" and "Vincent" had reached five million and three million airplays respectively.

Known for the huge hit "American Pie", which earned him number one American for four weeks in 1972 and in other English-speaking countries, composer Don McLean (born Donald McLean III in New Rochelle, New York, on October 2, 1945) saw his songs covered by Elvis Presley and Madonna. The track "Vincent", a tribute to the painter Vincent Van Gogh ranked No. 12 on the Billboard that same year, is another classic of his repertoire between folk, rock and soft rock of the 1970s. Coming from the folk bars of the 1960s, Don McLean released his first album Tapestry in 1970 and modestly continued to work his art after the tidal wave of " American Pie "(admitted to the posterity of the National Recording Registry in 2017), over lesser-known albums.

Don Henley doesn't move fast because he can afford not to hurry. He can spend the better part of a decade waiting out a record contract, labor on a 90-minute Eagles reunion for maybe half a decade, then take another eight years before returning with Cass County, his first solo album in 15 years and only fifth overall. That's the mark of a man who takes his time, but all that chronology pales compared to the true journey Cass County represents: a return to Henley's country roots, whether they lie in the blissed-out, mellow sunshine of Southern California or the Texas home that provides this record with its name.
