Lemon City Trio formed as a soul jazz organ trio, and has since evolved into a band with its own sound and unique repertoire. The band hails from Miami, Fl and has made a name for itself throughout the state, and up the east coast. Ranging from edgy fusion grooves, to dreamy space Rock, and everything in between, on Postcards, LCT takes its audience on a journey from start to finish.

Lemon 1.5 includes 40 different delay and tape emulations that realistically reproduce the behavior and sound quality of numerous hardware delay units, both vintage and modern. A clever feedback scheme with a variety of types of filters and an adjustable drive control gives you the possibility to use Lemon as an effective tape/overdrive simulator as well.

In a miraculous instance of cross-promotion, Detroit’s the Howard Lemon Singers nod to Stax star Luther Ingram’s 1972 single “To the Other Man.” Both versions of the song, along with a rendition by the Rance Allen Group in the same year, stand in the lineage of Stax’s signature “message music,” in which social awareness set to song took the place of straight-on gospel tunes.

2024 on Drone Rock Records is kicking off in style with the welcome return of Psychic Lemon and their 4th studio album, ‘The Unheimlich Kingdom’. It’s been over four years since the band’s last studio album, ‘Freak Mammal’ (released at the tail end of 2019 on Drone Rock Records), and this is their first record since downsizing to a two-piece following the departure of bass player Andy Hibberd. It is the band’s darkest yet, full of unrelenting repetition and piled high with dense slabs of sound, a total contrast to the sounds of their self-titled debut vinyl release on Drone Rock Records way back in 2016.

On Everything Harmony, the fourth full-length studio release from New York’s The Lemon Twigs, the prodigiously talented brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario offer 13 original servings of beauty that showcase an emotional depth and musical sophistication far beyond their years as a band, let alone as young men.

Since the release of their debut studio album Do Hollywood (on 4AD) in 2016, The Lemon Twigs—the New York City rock band fronted by brothers Brian (27) and Michael D’Addario (25)—have waved the same revivalist torch as Alex Chilton and his Big Star crew, working to prove that archaic music from the ‘60s and ‘70s can still be relevant in digital world. Alongside peers like Foxygen and Drugdealer, The Lemon Twigs have explicitly documented a synchronistic blend of contemporary narrative motifs, old-school recording techniques, and flawless, consistent attitudes collaged from various crucial stages of rock ’n’ roll. After a whirlwind 2023, the D’Addarios are continuing the momentum of their own evolving vision and voice, distilling a history lesson of baroque and power pop into A Dream Is All We Know out on Captured Tracks.

The opening measures of the Howard Lemon Singers’ “I Am Determined” command sincerity, as well as attention. Delicate woodwinds lure in all who are able to hear before halting brass notes disarm the melody and the group begs, “Stop, look, listen to the voice of Jesus.” Unlike more famous versions of the song, sung before in a romantic fashion by the Stylistics and Diana Ross with Marvin Gaye, the Howard Lemon Singers sing in a state of alert, as if there is little time to settle your heart with Jesus.

A recurring question surrounding the talented D'Addario brothers, Michael and Brian, has pondered when their music would sound more like them than a sum of their influences. On all of their lush, intelligent albums since their glam-pop debut Do Hollywood—released when they were ages 17 and 19—the siblings have both bowed to their '70s songwriting heroes while at the same time lifting a few gestures and chord changes along the way. Here the sweet resounding jangle of the title track is a perfect example of the glistening power pop that so many before them have attempted. Sometimes their crafty amalgams are meant as pure reverence, as in "In The Eyes Of The Girl," an earnest and convincing bow to the melodies and lilting vocal arrangements of Brian Wilson. This irresistible number was co-produced by Sean Ono Lennon who also plays bass on it. Lines like "In the eyes of the world I'm too far gone/ In the eyes of the world I'm done/ But the one that I care for says I make her heart soar/ In the eyes of the girl I've won," embody the sheer joy this pair finds in making music.
