On 1 0 0 1, Dustin O‘Halloran (Marie Antoinette, Lion, Transparent) contemplates ideas of technology & humanity entering the age of artificial intelligence - one of the most fundamental transformations in the history of mankind. What will distinguish humanity and technology in the future? How will this affect concepts like ‘love’ and the ‘soul’? Will language survive as the primary tool for our species’ communication? What role will consciousness have in a world whose rapid evolution continues to accelerate? 1 0 0 1 is based on a ballet, first premiered in 2019 (collaborating with dancer Fukiko Takase), that was developed further into the album during the pandemic.

Academy Award-nominated composer and pianist Dustin O’Halloran presents his debut album Silfur on DG – released on CD, vinyl and digital formats. Silfur explores the shifting perspective of music through time and place in new tracks and reimagined earlier works. O’Halloran divides his time between Reykjavík and LA. Unable to return to California because of the lockdown, he spent the imposed time of isolation in a state of introspection and stillness, writing new material and revisiting works from four solo albums and refining them with a renewed sense of self.

On “The Undivided Five” they rekindle their unique partnership for only their second piece of original music outside of film, TV and stage commissions, creating an album that channels ritual, higher powers and unspoken creative energies. Their fifth release (following their debut album, two scores and an EP), they embraced the serendipitous role of the number five, inspired by artist Hilma af Klint and the recurrence of the perfect fifth chord.
