Rostislav Boiko (b. 1931) RSFSR Merited Worker in Arts, laureate of the RSFSR State Prize, is a representative of the Moscow composer school, with its old and rich traditions. Rostislav Boiko, pupil of Alexander Sveshnikov (at the Moscow Choral College) and Aram Khachaturian (at the Moscow Conservatoire) began his creative activity at the end of the 40s. One of his first works were romances on verses by Avetik Isaakyan, performed by Nikolai Gyaurov. Since that time though Boiko has been working fruitfully in different genres, he still keeps inclination to choral and solo vocal music, where his musical gift, art culture and mastership shown most bright and full.
