This book identifies nine grand challenges in this emerging field of study and proposes four high-priority research initiatives. The book poses questions about how our planet's past can tell us about its future, how landscapes record climate and tectonics, and how Earth surface science can contribute to developing a sustainable living surface for future generations.

"Legends of the Dead Earth" was the title of a large crossover spanning through all of DC's 25 Annuals in the year 1996, resulting in DC's 1996 annual event being simply branded as Legends of the Dead Earth. It featured stories about a possible future of the universe, in which although the planet Earth itself had long since died out and its heroes gone with it, the heroes still left an impression and their stories and legends were passed down in various ways. These are not officially labeled as Elseworld tales but many consider them to be Elseworlds because they take place in the distant future and feature stories influenced by the legends/stories/legacies of the heroes and villains of the past for that particular title. A few of these annuals are actually in continuity because the characters are from the distant future. Probably because of the success of 1994's Elseworlds annuals event, DC editors decided they would do another one, but this time with the future twist. And much like the 1994 Elseworlds annuals, there are some pretty good stories in this collection.

RTS game based on the popular and successful EARTH series, featuring single and multiplayer modes. After the destruction of the EARTH, the leaders of the Eurasian Dynasty escaped on board an evacuation fleet. Now they are fighting for the survival of the human species. Choose from one of the four conflicting parties: LC, UCS, and Aliens. Earth 2160 features four single player campaigns, divided into seven missions each, as well as four multiplayer modes. The game uses the latest Earth III engine to store objects in a format based on the mathematical model of Bezier-curves instead of polygons for unprecedented detail.

Available exclusively from Sony's Pop Market website, The Columbia Masters is a compact, 16-disc box set that includes Earth, Wind & Fire's 15 Columbia albums - from 1972's Last Days and Time through 1990's Heritage - individually packaged in mini-LP replica sleeves. A 16th disc, dubbed Constellations: The Universe of Earth, Wind & Fire, collects rarities and several of leader Maurice White's outside productions for the likes of Ramsey Lewis, Neil Diamond, and Barbra Streisand. There's also a thick booklet with notes penned by White. Since EW&F's Columbia releases were remastered/reissued in 2004, a fair portion of the group's devout fans will see this as redundant; part of that faction will also covet disc 16, unavailable elsewhere. Those who had been waiting for a comprehensive box finally get one, with a price that should average out to less than 10.00 U.S. dollars per disc.
