In 1974 Frank Zappa performed 122 concerts in 105 cities across 16 countries. Even for a man who spent most of his working life on the road it was a busy, perhaps his busiest, year. The group captured here is the much loved Roxy band with Napoleon Murphy Brock, Ruth Underwood, George Duke, Tom Fowler and Chester Thompson, but stripped for some unknown reason of its second drummer, Ralph Humphrey. The music presented is taken mainly from Zappa's two contemporaneous releases, Over-nite Sensation (1973) and Apostrophe (1974). Performed live at the Memorial Auditorium, Buffalo, N.Y. November 15th, 1974, orginally broadcast by WNEW-FM.

As part of its ongoing live on tour series, FTD is pleased to announce the release of 'Elvis: August Season In Vegas 1974' Hilton Hotel 1974. Released as a 3-CD 5" digi-pak, this set features three great shows; AUGUST 27 (evening show), AUGUST 29 (midnight show) and AUGUST 30 (evening show). Considering sonic limitations, these soundboard recordings offer very good sound quality.

Pianist McCoy Tyner is heard at the height of his powers throughout this rewarding set. He contributed all five compositions and has a colorful and diverse group of major players at his disposal to interpret them: vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, altoist Gary Bartz, Azar Lawrence on tenor and soprano, John Stubblefield doubling on oboe and flute, bassist Buster Williams, drummer Billy Hart and both Mtume and Guillerme Franco on percussion. The results (which include a brief Tyner-Hutcherson duet on "Above the Rainbow") are quite rewarding and serve as a strong example of McCoy Tyner's music.

Pyramid is an album by jazz saxophonist Cannonball Adderley recorded at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California in 1974 featuring performances by Adderley's Quintet with Nat Adderley, Hal Galper, Walter Booker and Roy McCurdy with guest appearances by Phil Upchurch, George Duke, and Jimmy Jones.

As part of its continuing exploration of Detroit’s Strata label with DJ Amir’s 180 Proof Records, BBE Music reissues the 1974 rare jazz classic ‘Inside Ourselves’ by Sphere. Recorded live on June 28th, 1970 at the Detroit Institute of Arts, ‘Inside Ourselves’ features John Dana on bass, Jimmy Peluso on Drums, Keith Vreeland on, Electric Piano, Eddie Nuccilli on Trumpet and Flügelhorn, plus bandleader Larry Nozero on tenor and soprano Saxophone. The album comprises seven captivating original compositions, written by Vreeland, Nuccilli and Nozero himself. Perhaps Larry Nozero’s single most-recognisable contribution to popular music is the soprano sax solo on Marvin Gaye’s seminal, 'What’s Going On', the title track and tone-setter for one of soul music’s most successful, not to mention conceptual, recordings.

Lookin' for a Love Again is the sixth studio album by American musician Bobby Womack. The album was released on January 11, 1974, by United Artists Records. The album reached #85 on the Billboard U.S. Pop Charts and #5 on the Billboard R&B Charts. It included the hit single "Lookin' for a Love", which charted No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart and #10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

After making his recording debut in the late 60s, Gregory Isaacs recorded for a number of leading Jamaican record producers without ever achieving significant sustained success. His fortunes changed dramatically early in 1974, however, after he began collaborating with Alvin 'G. G. ' Ranglin, who over the previous six years had established a reputation as one of the island's most respected hit-makers. The partnership immediately paid dividends with the release of the singer's smash hit, 'Love Is Overdue', the popularity of which spurred Ranglin to record have the singer record his hugely popular debut long player. The LP provides the focus of this 2CD set, which also includes the remainder of Isaacs's recordings with Ranglin from the period, along with the very best of the producer's output from 1973, featured on disc 2. With 14 tracks unavailable on any format since their original release, this is a crucial collection for fans of the Cool Ruler and classic early 70s reggae sounds.
