Un gruppo di Morlock guidati da Masque ha dichiarato guerra al mondo di superficie in nome di una profezia scritta da una mutante in grado di prevedere il futuro. Tempesta, Warpath, l'aliena Epizaph, Calibano e Skids, rimasti sepolti dal crollo di un tunnel sotterraneo provocato da un esplosione, si trovano ora prigionieri di Masque e i suoi seguaci in una galleria situata sotto una vecchia cattedrale. Tempesta, rinchiusa dentro una bara, viene informata da Masque del suo imminente atto terroristico, far crollare la cattedrale sopra di loro facendo ricadere la colpa sugli X-Men quando i loro corpi saranno rinvenuti sotto le macerie. Tuttavia il piano di Masque, che si affida a una sua libera interpretazione della profezia, crolla miseramente quando Tempesta, pur prigioniera, richiama un fulmine che facendosi strada sulle tubature libera lei i suoi compagni permettendogli di passare subito all'offensiva. In breve tempo i Morlocks vengono sconfitti, l'attentato viene sventato, e Calibano, liberato Pulce, si prende la sua rivincita riempiendo di botte Masque.
