Those who, a few years ago, detected in Lionel Belmondo a coltranien pure stock are for their expenses. The man is passionate, loving music as one falls in religion. His credo is not Coltrane, nor Rollins, which one could understand for a jazz tenor saxophonist, but the music simply, all the music. In his latest album, Lionel Belmondo Plays European Standards recorded in Rollins' trio in Vanguard (saxophone - double bass - drums) with Sylvain Romano on bass and Laurent Robin on drums, the saxophonist continues his work dedicated to classical musicians (Brahms, Fauré, Schubert, Bach, Wagner, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Schubert).
