Brooklyn bedroom-pop trailblazers Beach Fossils’ new album Bunny, is a triumphant return for one of the 2010s most influential NYC bands. Bunny is a precise blend of the luscious dream-pop atmospheres they notoriously honed on their earliest projects, the post-punk vigor expressed on Clash the Truth, and the warm, sophisticated songwriting of Somersault. Composer Dustin Payseur peppers the album equally with descriptions of the joy of fatherhood and the existential pleasure of smoking cigarettes out of a car window with friends - Bunny features Beach Fossils' most personal lyrics to-date.

The name “drama” came to us when reflecting on the EP and thinking “wow, we sound dramatic as hell on these songs, don’t we?” “drama” conveys more moods and feels than our previous work —like that sinking feeling knowing that it’s time to end a relationship; old friendships in despair; hyper-irrational crushes; and losing one’s sense of identity–all voiced on the EP.

When the pandemic hit, Hannah van Loon adopted a dog named Gizmo, who became a much-needed companion while the Bay Area musician wrote her second album as Tanukichan. Aptly named after her new four-legged friend, GIZMO is an exercise in release, whether from situational hindrances — a forced lockdown, for one — or from self-imposed hedonistic coping mechanisms. “A theme I always had floating around was escape,” van Loon explains of her follow-up to 2018’s Sundays. “Escaping from myself, my problems, sadness and cycles.”
