Belgian pianist Marie François is full of life, and her life is all about music – rhythms, tempo and melody. She realised this from an early stage, having lessons from the age of five from her grandfather, who patiently explained the main principles to her.

Act III of François-Frédéric Guy's Beethoven Project. On the programme: Beethoven's complete music for cello and piano with cellist Xavier Phillips, recorded by Nicolas Bartholomée at the Arsenal in Metz. In 2008 Guy embarked on a major Beethoven project that has included recording and performing in concert all 32 Beethoven Sonatas and the 5 Piano Concertos. Guy is a dedicated chamber musician and he regularly performs Beethoven’s chamber music for strings and piano as well, with Tedi Papavrami and Xavier Phillips. As part of the Beethoven project, Guy has performed the complete cycle of 32 Sonatas in Washington, Paris, Monaco and recently at the Festival Berlioz in La Côte-Saint-André (August 2013). Born in Paris, Xavier Phillips started playing the cello at the age of 6. His encounter with Mstislav Rostropovitch proved especially fruitful since it marked the beginning of a long collaboration during which Xavier Phillips received the guidance and encouragement of the master cellist.

Un Jour Si Blanc (2010) is an album by French jazz pianist François Couturier, known for his delicate and expressive style, combining influences from jazz, classical music, and contemporary improvisation. The album is a deeply introspective and atmospheric work, showcasing Couturier’s unique approach to piano performance, which blends melody, texture, and emotion. The title of the album, Un Jour Si Blanc, translates to "A Day So White" in English, evoking a sense of purity, quietness, and reflection. The album features a blend of original compositions and improvisational passages that explore themes of memory, longing, and beauty, with a focus on creating a tranquil yet profound listening experience.

After a decade of shared work in the Tarkovsky Quartet and an ongoing alliance in the Pergolesi Project, German cellist Anja Lechner and French pianist Francois Couturier unveil their new duo. The players approach the music from different vantage points: Lechner is a classical soloist with an uncommon interest in improvisation, Couturier a jazz musician travelling ever further from jazz. On 'Moderato cantabile' they present their own arrangements of works by three fascinating outsiders from the margins of music history - G.I. Gurdjieff, Komitas and Federico Mompou.

Born in 1759 in Joinville, France, Francois Devienne was a virtuoso bassoonist and flautist who also enjoyed a European reputation as a brilliant composer. A member of the French Guard whose opéras comiques were in high demand during the revolutionary years, the Frenchman was later appointed first flute professor of the newly established Paris Conservatoire, where he became a much sought-after teacher. Today he is best remembered for his prodigious output of wind chamber music.
