Dynamite Entertainment's continuing publications of Roy Thomas' and Barry Windsor-Smith's enduring creation continues, in this five-part sequel to their previous . In that 5-issue miniseries, with the aid of Odin, the All-Father, and Thor, God of Thunder, Sonja battled Loki, the God of Tricks, and banished him from his kingdom of Wodinaz, to the fabled land of Hyboria. The story picks up from there, with Loki plotting revenge and his return to power, setting his sights on the kingdom of Vannaheim. A better-than-average outing on the Red Sonja mythos, with clever use of Norse mythology on the fantasy-sword-and-sorcery trope and of using miniseries in temporal sequence to establish continuity. Artist Sampere follows the established depiction of violence and gore, which is, naturally graphic. May not be suitable for all ages. All HQ Minutemen scans.

is the latest in the Marvel Illustrated imprint from Marvel Comics. As with others in this line for comic adaptations of classic literature, it is told in the form of a 5-part limited series. Writer Roy Thomas, who has penned many of these adaptations, has essentially taken the collection of fragmentary tales from antiquity known as the (which dealt with events preceding ), (the days afterward, through the death of Achilles), (which carries the story through the building of the great wooden horse), The Sack of Ilium (the fall and destruction of Troy) and (the homecomings, some of them tragic, of the Greek heroes) -- and along with Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, faithfully attempts to create an idealized, linear graphic novelization out of the destruction of the city of Troy by Grecian armies. Issue #4 retells the events surrounding the Greek plan of the Trojan horse.
