Russian Roots is the début recording of Trio Gaspard for Chandos Records, for which the group is joined by the soprano Katharina Konradi in a diverse and rewarding programme that explores the Russian influence across almost 200 years of music. A selection of Russian folksongs set by Beethoven, Shostakovich’s First Piano Trio and Seven Romances on Poems by Blok, and Weinberg’s Jewish Songs form the backbone of the recital. These are complemented by vocalises (wordless songs) by Stravinsky, Rachmaninoff, Gubaidulina, and Auerbach.

Founded in 2010, Trio Gaspard has become one of the most sought-after piano trios of its generation, whose members are praised for their unique and fresh approach to the score. The Trio is regularly invited to perform at leading concert halls throughout the world. It has an impressive history of international festival appearances, and each member also continues to pursue a successful solo career.

Gaspard Le Roux fait paraître à Paris, « Chez Foucaut Marchand a L’entrée de larüe Saint honnoré », un livre de Pieces de clavessin, qui représente à peu près toute son œuvre. Cette publication consiste en sept suites de danses. Quatre d’entre elles s’ouvrent par un prélude non mesuré. On peut trouver ensuite une (ou plusieurs parfois) allemande(s), courante(s), sarabande(s), un ou plusieurs menuet(s), une gavotte, une gigue ou un passepied… La « suite » en fa comporte une remarquable chaconne. Quelques pièces portent un titre : « La favoritte », « La bel ébat », et même … « La pièce sans titre » – ce qui est après tout une façon comme une autre de lui en donner un!

Gaspard Auge releases his Debut Album Escapades. He is best known as one half of Justice, the duo that united rock and rave and whose dancefloor smashes defined a generation. Gaspard made an instrumental album whose sound will be familiar to Justice ’s fanbase, echoing some previous works and inspirations of the cult duet. Escapades sounds like a UFO landing from another galaxy, or time, a baroque masterpiece that reimagines European classical music for this century.

BUXTEHUDE Trio Sonatas op.1 is the debut album of Québécoise violinist Noémy Gagnon-Lafrenais, who joins forces with viola da gambist Margaret Little and keyboardist Christophe Gauthier to form Ensemble Spinoza and celebrate the seminal work of 17th-century composer Dietrich Buxtehude.
