Nathan Whitehead has been hired to score the upcoming thriller He’s Out There. The film is directed by Dennis Iliadis (The Last House on the Left) and stars Yvonne Strahovski, Justin Bruening, Anna Pniowsky, Abigail Pniowsky, Julian Bailey and Ryan McDonald. The movie follows a mother who comes to visit a remote lake house, and finds herself fighting for the lives of herself and her two daughters after falling into a terrifying and bizarre nightmare conceived by a homicidal psychopath. Mike Scannell wrote the screenplay. Bryan Bertino (The Strangers) and Adrienne Biddle (The Monster, Mockingbird) are producing the project for Unbroken Pictures. Whitehead has previously scored Illiadis’ last (yet to be released) feature, Delirium starring Topher Grace, Genesis Rodriguez & Patricia Clarkson. He’s Out There is expected to premiere later this year and will be distributed by Screen Gems/Sony Pictures.

Some rock & roll acts slid easily into the psychedelic era, and did well with it – the Beatles, the Pretty Things, the Who, the Rolling Stones (overlooking Satanic Majesties'), even the Rascals (sort of). Unfortunately, the McCoys weren't one of them – the band that turned "Hang on Sloopy" into a teen anthem just wasn't that good mixing psychedelic rock, blues, country, and jazz, with brass and saxes in their instrumental mix. This CD combines all but two songs off of the 1968 vintage Infinite McCoys and Human Ball albums. There is some good playing by Rick Zehringer (aka Derringer) and keyboard man Robert Peterson, and some interesting jazzy moments too ("Resurrection"), where it is just them, but you've got to be patient to get to them and listen to some really pretentious crap in the meantime, not to mention ignore the trumpets, trombones, and saxes (arranged by Fred Lipsius) that get you there. There is a near-absence of decent tunes ("Open Your Eyes" is an exception), or memorable hooks, and the best piece of blues here ("Stormy Monday Blues") isn't worth the wait to get to. For completists only.

TRIANA is the most legendary and pivotal progressive rock band in Spain. Their stunning debut-album "El Patio" (1975) was a seminal blend of flamenco and prog rock and paved the way to flamenco-inspired prog rock in Spain, culminating in bands like AZAHAR, CAI, ALAMEDA, QUALDAQUIVIR, MEZQUITA and MEDINA AZAHARA…

The McCoys enjoyed a massive international hit with their first shot in the big leagues - after producers Richard Gottehrer, Jerry Goldstein, and Bob Feldman discovered them when they shared the bill with the Strangeloves in Ohio, the McCoys landed a deal with Bang Records, and their first single for the label, "Hang on Sloopy," went all the way to number one. But the McCoys had grander musical ambitions than their patrons at Bang were willing to nurture, and in 1968 they signed with Mercury Records, where they were given complete creative freedom as they cut their final two albums, Infinite McCoys and Human Ball. The McCoys' musical approach took a 180-degree turn with these two albums, which blended psychedelic meanderings with jazz piano pieces, country melodies, sunny pop, extended blues workouts, and a few pieces that defy conventional explanation…
