In this live 1973 performance from Japan, Scotto is parthnered by one of the great tenors of our time, José Carreras, then at the start of his international career. The distinguished baritone Sesto Bruscantini is a formidable Germont who sings an exceptionally moving rendition of the famous aria "Di Provenza il mar".

Cançó d'amor i de guerra (en español «Canción de amor y de guerra») es una zarzuela en catalán escrita en dos actos, que se estrenó el 16 de abril de 1926 en el Teatre Nou de Barcelona. Se convirtió en el primer gran éxito del compositor valenciano Rafael Martínez Valls, con texto de Lluís Capdevila y Víctor Mora.

As Turandots go, this is an eminently likable and satisfying rendition. It is certainly a recording that is buoyed by the expert performances of the singers, all of whom are perfectly cast and who rise to the occasion to pull off Puccini's most difficult and most intoxicating opera.Of course, there is no opera without the ice princess herself, and I greatly enjoyed Montserrat Caballe's performance
