American comics readers have just started to notice the art of Rafael Albuquerque, but he's been working on comics in other countries for awhile. Before for DC Comics or any of his work for Boom! Studios on titles like and (the first issue now available for free from Boom!), the Brazilian artist had done work not only in his own country, but quite a bit for AK Comics, the company that publishes comics for the Middle East. One of those past works--one that Albuquerque calls his favorite--was released for American audiences by Image Comics: . It is a 96-page graphic novel about a street-level crime war in the fictional city of La Rambla. Previously titled "Rumble in La Rambla," the book is optimized for the graphic novel format and has become what the creators are calling the "director's cut" of the original series. Created the first time around by writer Felipe Ferreira with Albuquerque on art, the comic was reworded for American release by Ivan Brandon. Great, gritty artwork on a gritty graphic novel.
