The world's most successful choir of all time is back with a new studio album for the dark season: PURE CHANTS.

PURE CHANTS is exactly what the title promises. True to the motto: “In tranquility lies strength,” Gregorian recorded half of the songs on PURE CHANTS completely without instrumental accompaniment and the other half largely without instrumental accompaniment, relying entirely on the power and beauty of the human voice.

The award-winning pianist, composer and arranger Tim Allhoff and the Dominican monk, church musician and Gregorian Chant expert Father Robert Mehlhart come from very different worlds of life. However, by combining Gregorian chants with neo-classical piano sounds, they have developed a common musical language and, with their project "Meditations: Chant & Piano", they are opening up a unique musical space of peace and inner contemplation.

Alfred Desenclos and Jean Langlais were both superlative composers of choral music, yet most of their works are performed far too infrequently. This album offers superb performances of some of the best choral works by these great French masters.

Blind from the age of two, a prodigiously gifted student, Jean Langlais (1907-91) produced an immense quantity of music. His organ works alone exceed in number those of of JS Bach. Many have hardly ever been performed. Perhaps not more than half a dozen works are regularly played or recorded today, which is what makes this new complete survey of his organ music – the first ever attempted on record – both unique and invaluable, as the authoritative document of a high point in the distinguished lineage of the French organ heritage.

With "Les Chants de Jésus", the Schola Regina choir, conducted by Philippe Nikolov, brings to a close the trilogy of sacred songs initiated by its producer and artistic director, Max Guazzini. After Credo (2011) and Les Chants de Marie (2015), this 3rd opus aims to introduce the treasures of liturgical music in a popular spirit, to as many people as possible, but also to share them with believers, to remind how diverse our musical culture is. Taking its source in Gregorian chant, this music brings together the centuries through different musical forms that today rub shoulders.

The laus perennis that the monks every day in their psalmody offer to the Lord, is adorned with hymns, antiphons and responsories; all chants drawn from the ancient gregorian repertory. With this daily practice and custom, the monks become almost the only custodians and specialists of this patrimony of the highest religious, cultural and artistic merit that is gregorian chant.

After her Schumann disc (CC 72867), we are glad to present a new disc by great mezzosoprano Anna Lucia Richter. The theme of of the disc is: Light. The repertoire encompasses eight hundred years of German Lieder.
