You know these songs. Even if you’ve never even been to Scotland, even if you’re not a seafaring type, you know them. That’s because the twelve anthems—and make no mistake, these are anthems—The Real McKenzies have picked for this new album have been sung by others for decades, if not centuries.

This newly formed quintet traces its roots to the center of the Danish jazz scene. Each member has been prominent internationally and now they have joined forces and recorded two albums which will be released soon. Influences are a mix of hard bop and modern jazz driven by the quintet’s powerful rhythm section. The audience can expect a blend of new material with some of the band member’s favorite jazz tunes in between. The name of the band originates in the fact that most of the Scandinavian nationalities can be found within the quintet. Karl-Martin Almquist is Swedish, Johnny Åmann is from Finland, Carl Winter and Anders Mogensen are Danish and trumpet player Ari Bragi is from Iceland.

Disc Two is the Trouble album which hit #45 in the UK National Charts and includes the mega selling hits 'A Glass Of Champagne' (UK #2, Germany #3, Holland #5) and 'Girls Girls Girls' (UK #7, Germany #2, Holland #2). The third disc features 1976's The Third Step album with the 'Stiletto Heels' (Germany #12) and 'One Drink Too Many' (UK. #35, Germany #2) singles. Bruce Johnston of The Beach Boys produced Disc Four's Checkpoint album which includes the German #24 single 'Down By The Docks'. The fifth and final disc is 1978's Hideaway album which includes the German Top 40 hit 'Give Me Shakespeare'. Sailor is the second studio album by American rock group The Steve Miller Band, released in October 1968 by Capitol Records. Like The Steve Miller Band's previous album, Children of the Future, Sailor was produced by Glyn Johns. Unlike its predecessor which was recorded in London, England, Sailor was recorded in Los Angeles, California. It was the last Steve Miller Band album to feature contributions by original members Boz Scaggs and Jim Peterman. Scaggs went on to a successful solo career. The album features a psychedelic blues rock sound.
