Gerhard Gundermann. Ein Baggerfahrer aus der Lausitzer Tagebaulandschaft, der Lieder schrieb. Diese führten ihn durchs Land, durch Ost und West, an ganz unterschiedliche Orte: Studentenklub, Tagebau, große Säle, kleine Säle, bis hin ins Vorprogramm der Deutschland-Tourneen von Joan Baez und Bob Dylan 1994 – und von dort immer wieder zurück in die Kapsel eines Großraumbaggers, zumeist als Zweischicht-Unternehmung.

The Kreuzleich by Heinrich “Frauenlob” von Meissen is over 700 years old, making it one of the oldest surviving oratorios of the German cultural sphere. Known up to now only as a silent fragment of Meistersinger history, composer Karsten Gundermann, together with the multi-award-winning a cappella ensemble Octavians, brings it to life for our present time: Gundermann has revamped Frauenlob’s notated melodies and fragmentary manuscripts into a fascinating work for soloists, chamber choir, and orchestra, and the result is sensational! Lappalie kreieren eine ungewöhnliche, bunte Mischung aus verschiedenen Genres. Die klassische Bandbesetzung aus Gitarre-Schlagzeug-Bass wird hier unterstützt durch Geige und Mandoline, und zu fünft ziehen die Rostocker Jungs durch die Lande, um in Fußgängerzonen und auf Bühnen ihre Lieder vorzutragen. Inspiration holt sich Lappalie bei Größen wie the Pogues, Gerhard Gundermann oder Woody Guthrie. 2016 erschien ihr erstes, selbstironisch betiteltes Album „Bitte gehen Sie weiter“ in Eigenproduktion, gefolgt von „Kanaillen der Straße“ Anfang 2018. Aber Lappalie sieht sich selbst vor allem als Liveband. „Die unmittelbare Reaktion des Publikums ist die größte Anerkennung, die man sich als Musiker wünschen kann. Also versuchen wir, jeden zum Tanzen oder Zuhören zu kriegen.“ Das schaffen sie auch.
