These two new books of metaludios, which continue the three already recorded on a CD released in 2018, explore new sound territories through the piano. Science is once again the main pillar underlying the compositional process of these twelve new pieces.

This double album offers a testimony to Stravinsky’s overwhelming musical heritage, covering all the phases of his creative life. Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971) is twentieth-century music! More than any other composer, he continued to develop his compositional style throughout his seven-decade-spanning career, innovating and adopting all the most important musical trends of his century. Historically, the musical journey starts with one of the first recordings of the recently rediscovered Funeral Song (1909), composed as a tribute to his teacher Rimsky-Korsakov.

Released in the year of Claude Debussys death centenary, this album demonstrates the exceptional harmonic and coloristic richness of his music. The centerpiece of the album is La Mer (1903-1905), a musical realization of the composers sincere devotion to the sea that revolutionized orchestral composition in the early twentieth-century. Ibéria takes the listener on a trip to Spain, whereas the Six Épigraphes antiques (1914), here performed in the orchestration of Rudolf Escher, evoke ancient Greece and Egypt.

Guitarist Pablo Márquez celebrates the work of a remarkable figure in Argentinean music: Gustavo “Cuchi” Leguizamón. Leguizamón (1917-2000) was a composer, pianist, guitarist, poet - and also a lawyer and teacher in the city of Salta where Márquez grew up. It was in his teaching capacity that Márquez first encountered him in person: “He was my history teacher at the Collegio Nacional when I was thirteen years old. When I saw Dr Gustavo Leguizamón come into the classroom for the first time, I had no idea that I was in the presence of one of Argentina’s greatest musicians, the composer of famous zambas I’d known and sung since early childhood. Cuchi liked to say that ‘the ultimate accolade for an artist is that people think his work is anonymous’.”

Gustavo Dudamel is back for an electrifying concert at the helm of Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, conducting works by two of Austria's greatest composers: Mozart and Mahler! Maestro Dudamel and the world-class RCO begin the evening with the perennially delightful Overture from The Magic Flute, one of the Salzburg genius's many masterworks that combines elements of the fugue and the sonata.

Today is the official release of the beautiful album "Estampas Americanas". As I had posted last week, this is a very special collaboration. Many thanks to my dear friend Mauricio Charbonnier and the New Music of the Americas project for creating a beautiful album of music by Latin American composers. Congratulations to the extraordinary Paula Peluso - Pianista, Stanimir Todorov and Gustavo Mulé for the beautiful performances, and in particular I'm honored to hear my compositions "Pan de Azúcar" and "La alborada de la esperanza" performed by such iconic artists.
