Hamada Shogo

The early music ensemble Anthonello is named after the 14th century composer Anthonello da Caserta, and was founded with the view to performing early music in the spirit of the period. Each of the members is a soloist in her or his own right, and also has wide experience of performing with leading musicians in various parts of the world. Since its inception in 1994, the ensemble has gained a worldwide reputation for the excellence of its playing and for its interpretative flair.

The 9th release from Schole Records is a full album by a hopeful musician “Paniyolo.” Backing up by his solid skill, the tone colours simply soak into the listeners’ hearts. And this album is made just like a tale in guitar tunes. This rare works surely remind us the both current and universal point of view. Kaede Mira, Ayumi Haitani from 4 bonjour’ s parties, Tomomi Shikano, Akira Kosemura from Schole Records, Ryodo Yamamoto, Toshiaki Hamada, and Haruka Nakamura from Nica participated in this album as the guests.

Norwegian trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer has his own very individual sound, influenced as much by the poetry of Scandinavian nature as by electronic calculation, and last but not least by colleagues like Miles Davis and Jon Hassell. Listening to him play, it's easy to forget that his instrument is a trumpet. On his last album, Hamada, he switched to and fro between very harmonious and extremely brutal passages, while on Baboon Moon these two opposite poles blend into a unified whole again. Improvisation is an important factor but for this music Molvaer calls it free, black prog rock.
