When Redi Hasa escaped war-torn Albania in 1990, his few possessions included the cello loaned to him by Tirana State Conservatory. This “stolen” instrument enabled him to continue his studies in Italy, where his extraordinary talent at last started to bear fruit, including collaborations with pianist Ludovico Einaudi. The Stolen Cello is a beautiful showcase for Hasa’s dear instrument, a portrait of survival and a tribute to his homeland. Like many of the tracks, the opener, “Dajti Mountain”—a homage to Tirana’s stunning landscape—has a deep folk flavor, while “1990 Autumn Escape” brings Hasa’s flight to Italy to frantic life. “Little Street Football Made of Socks” is a touching snapshot of childhood—nostalgic, yet ultimately joyful.

It's quite difficult to find a young person who knows about the Scorpions. Even when their careers were peaking in the '80s, they were never widely recognized, existing always as more of an underground band. The lack of hit singles produced by the group is by no means a judgment of its talent, however, as Deadly Sting: The Mercury Years proves. Some may find the fact that Mercury made the compilation a double-disc set surprising – again due to the band's small following – but the album is far better than the single-disc collection Best of Rockers 'n' Ballads. Following chronologically from 1979 to 1993 (thus covering the years in which the band enjoyed its most success)…

Tear Down These Walls is the seventh solo studio album by British recording artist Billy Ocean. It was originally released in January 1988 by Jive and Arista as the follow-up to Ocean's critically and commercially successful 1986 album Love Zone. It features guest backing vocalists, including The Manhattans, Will Downing, Carroll Thompson, and Mary Cassidy, and is generally regarded as the culmination of the smoother, more adult-oriented sound of Ocean's later work. On release, the album was received favourably by the majority of music critics. Ocean's second most commercially successful solo album, it went on to peak at #3 on the UK Albums Chart and reached #18 on the Billboard 200. The album launched four charting singles in the UK. "Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car" peaked at #3 on the UK Singles Chart; "Calypso Crazy" peaked at #35; "The Colour of Love" at #65; "Stand and Deliver" at #97.

The album also remains her last entry to date on the US Billboard 200 albums chart.

While "Pipes of Peace" was the source of international hit singles such as "Say Say Say" (recorded with Michael Jackson) and the title track, the critical response to the album was less favourable than that afforded to "Tug of War".

Ramsey Lewis and Nancy Wilson - two key soulful talents from the 60s, working together beautifully here in a mid 80s set! The album's almost more Randy's than it is Nancy's given that Lewis takes a few tunes instrumentally, working in a blend of acoustic and electric instrumentation that's very much in his best early 80s Columbia Records mode. But things really come together when Nancy joins in - bringing her mature, soulful approach to the tunes - and really tying them together wonderfully with her vocals! Stanley Clarke produced, and there's definitely some echoes here of his own music of the time - and titles include "Ram", "Quiet Storm", "Never Wanna Say Goodnight", "Closer Than Close", and "Breaker Beat".
