Hearing Bach's Passions

The Bachs must count as one of the most musical families in the history of Western music. Next to Johann Sebastian Bach, there were many other outstanding musicians and composers in the family. This release presents a varied anthology of flute music by Johann Sebastian and his composing sons - Wilhelm Friedemann, Carl Philipp Emanuel, Johann Christoph Friedrich and Johann Christian - with every piece containing typical compositional characteristics of each of them.

Waldner is artistic director of the concert series for Early Music Innsbruck Evening Music (1988 to 2013: Evening Music – life music) and founder of the Tyrolean Ensemble for Early Music vita & anima. He regularly performs as a soloist on organ, harpsichord, virginal, spinet, clavichord, lute piano and fortepiano, interpreting music of the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and early Romantic periods.Since 2009, Waldner has devoted himself in concerts and CD productions with his Ensemble for Early Music vita & anima and in close cooperation with the music department of the Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum, headed by Franz Gratl, to the rediscovery of unknown or forgotten Baroque music from Tyrol, which lies in European music archives. In addition, Waldner worked with numerous ensembles and specialists in early music.
