On déifie le premier album à la banane, encense le très expérimental White Light White Heat et vénère le troisième éponyme. Mais le quatrième et dernier opus studio du Velvet Underground est souvent négligé pour ne pas dire carrément oublié… Loaded est pourtant un véritable chef d’œuvre même si sa réalisation comme son casting furent on ne peut plus chaotiques. Déjà, l’œuvre renferme un bon nombre de chansons magistrales (c’est bien ici que les tubesques Sweet Jane et Rock’n’Roll apparaissent pour la première fois) à l’image de Who Loves The Sun qui ouvre le disque de manière solaire (logique vu le titre…) et très pop. On est bien loin de la décadence et de la noirceur de la Factory d’Andy Warhol des débuts… Sur un titre comme I Found A Reason, la jovialité aux airs Beach Boys est même de mise. Lou Reed claquera pourtant la porte avant la sortie du disque que terminera Doug Yule qui chante d’ailleurs sur certains morceaux. Même Moe Tucker ne pilote la batterie que sur quelques titres. Qu’importe, Loaded est une merveille qui ressuscite en habits de lumière pour ses 45 ans, remastérisé, avec en prime des prises alternative et des démos.

At the dawn of the 1970s, Billy Cobham built his legend with his bandleader debut, Spectrum. Raw, daring and overflowing with adrenalin, the album topped the Billboard Jazz charts. Having played for Miles Davis, Horace Silver and Mose Allison, Billy Cobham had joined the legendary Mahavishnu Orchestra in 1971, before signing to Atlantic as a solo artist in 1973. Worshipped today as a titan of drumming, Billy Cobham's career is now in its fifth decade.

Roy Orbison left Monument for MGM Records in 1965, not long after "Oh, Pretty Woman" gave him his second number one single in 1964. He did not see those heights again during his stint at MGM, but it wasn't for lack of trying. During those eight years, he released 12 full-length albums – another, One of the Lonely Ones, was rejected in 1969 and wasn't unearthed until 2015 – and a clutch of non-LP singles, all rounded up and released in this 13-disc box set, The MGM Years 1965-1973 (One of the Lonely Ones is not part of the box). Demon put this material out as a series of two-fers in the mid-2000s, but The MGM Years trumps those CDs by offering each album as a mini-LP in a cardboard sleeve, while adding a disc of B-Sides & Singles, plus a nice thick booklet filled with memorabilia and justifications for a rocky patch in Orbison's career. After a few modest hits – "Ride Away" and "Breakin' Up Is Breakin' My Heart" made the Top 40 in 1965, "Twinkle Toes" just barely cracked that bar in 1966 – Orbison dropped off the charts completely but continued to cut records designed with a crossover in mind.

Two CD collection from one of pop, rock and country's finest vocalists. This chronological collection begins with Michael Nesmith's timeless "Different Drum" as performed by The Stone Poneys featuring Linda, then jumps forward to the 1973 solo album Don't Cry Now. From that point on, Just One Look touches on all of Ronstadt's LPs through 1982's Get Close. The collection then picks up with 1989's smash Aaron Neville pairing Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind and concludes with tracks from 1993's Winter Light. Just One Look includes key hit singles from this period including "You're No Good, "Tracks of My Tears," "Heat Wave," "Blue Bayou," "It's So Easy" and "Just One Look."
