First broadcast in 1969. In his 70th year, Alfred Hitchcock came to the National Film Theatre in London to talk to fellow director Bryan Forbes and to answer questions from an audience of film enthusiasts. With scenes from Blackmail (1929), The Lady Vanishes (1938), Psycho (1960), The Birds (1963) and Torn Curtain (1966).

Nine-CD box set featuring expanded editions of the albums recorded for Decca and Deram by the English progressive rock band between 1970 and 1975. BBC Four's celebration of film music begins with Sound Of Cinema: The Music That Made The Movies, a three-part documentary presented by writer, composer and film music aficionado Neil Brand. Neil tells his alternative history of cinema, putting the soundtrack centre stage. The series features some of the biggest directors of past and present, including Quentin Tarantino, Alfred Hitchcock and Martin Scorsese, alongside film scores of cult and blockbuster movies like Star Wars, Inception, Hitchcock's Psycho, and Gladiator.

In a career stretching 50 years, legendary music producer Phil Spector has avoided a substantial interview - until now.
Spector transformed rock and roll, becoming the first music producer to be a star in his own right. He gave the world "Be My Baby", "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" and John Lennon's "Imagine", and soundtracked a generation. Accused of murdering 40-year-old Los Angeles nightclub hostess Lana Clarkson, his trial in September 2007 ended dramatically in a hung jury. The trial reopens in October 2008 and threatens to eclipse his musical legacy for a second time.

The Film Scores On Phase 4, a collection of seven original albums recorded between 1968 and 1975, remastered from the original analogue master tapes, provides an overview of Bernard Herrmann’s multifaceted musicodramatic genius and his distinctive style. BBC Music Magazine noted, “This collection of London recordings by the legendary Bernard Herrmann is a must-have.”

Documentary in which Paul Merton explores Alfred Hitchcock's early British films. Merton sees Hitchcock as a man immersed in the visual language of cinema, who understood how to use camera movement and lighting for dramatic effect. Using clips and archive interviews with Hitchcock and those who worked with him, including actress Anna Massey and cinematographer Gil Taylor, Merton weaves together a playful narrative of the director's early career, revealing a man with a great sense of humour.
