Essential live recording of British supergroup Humble Pie (formed by Peter Frampton and Steve Marriott in 1969) made at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom in May of 1973 and one of the first in a long series of concerts for the legendary King Biscuit Flower Hour radio program. Featuring a scorching set of songs that included hits like "Hot 'N' Nasty" and "30 Days in the Hole" from their best-selling album Smokin', but whose energy far surpasses anything they ever did in the studio!

One of the world's greatest live albums is now four times greater! When Steve Marriott left the Small Faces (Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Class of 2012) to launch a new band in 1968, expectations were high. Marriott teamed with 18-year-old guitarist Peter Frampton, already a U.K. star through his work with The Herd, along with bassist Greg Ridley from Spooky Tooth, and 17-year-old drummer Jerry Shirley, who Steve Marriott had used as a session player for Andrew Loog Oldham s Immediate Record Label.

Before '70s superstardom, even before Humble Pie, Peter Frampton got his first taste of celebrity as a singer and guitarist in the Herd, who chalked up several hits in Britain in 1967 and 1968. Frampton was only 17 when the single "From the Underworld" went into the British Top Ten in late 1967; "Paradise Lost" and "I Don't Want Our Loving to Die" were hits for the group in the first half of 1968. The Herd's brand of mod was extremely commercial and good-timey- and pop-oriented, a bit like a muted and mainstream Small Faces. Much of their material (including all of the hits) was written by their management team of Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley, who had supplied songs for the Honeycombs (of "Have I the Right" fame).

Their best known hits are Itchycoo Park, Lazy Sunday, All or Nothing and Tin Soldier. From 1967, the band's music began to incorporate elements of psychedelic rock, the best-known example of which is one of the first concept albums of rock music, Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake, released in 1968. After the breakup of the Small Faces in 1969, Steve Marriott formed his band Humble Pie. His three friends went on to make music with two members of The Jeff Beck Group, Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, under the name Faces.

The Small Faces were an English rock and roll band from East London, heavily influenced by American rhythm and blues. Small Faces are also acknowledged as being one of the biggest original influences on the Britpop movement of the 1990s. Despite the fact the band were together just four years in their original incarnation, the Small Faces' music output from the mid to late sixties remains among the most acclaimed British mod and psychedelic music of that era. On "It's About Time", the first solo disc from Greg Chaisson, the Badlands bassist goes back to his roots and digs deep into a set of 12 outstanding killer blues/rock heavy guitar trax with a way-kool 70's power trio vibe. Greg Chaisson is best known for playing bass in the rather awesome Badlands (featuring Jake E. Lee & Ray Gillen), however he has also laid down the "low-end bottom kool" on discs by Blindside Blues Band, Craig Erickson, Darrell Mansfield, Die Happy & Surgical Steel, to name a few. "It's About Time" finds the bad-ass bassist paying tribute to his musical roots and heroes of the 70's. He also has found his "voice" and handles the lead vocals with a raw, gutsy, bluesy authority on songs that count.

Jack Bruce (Cream) was guest at Rockpalast in 1980 for the first time – on the occasion of the 7th Rockpalast Night, broadcasted to millions of people all over Europe Live via Eurovision. The line-up was called Jack Bruce & Friends: nobody less than Billy Cobham (Miles Davis, Stanley Clarke) on drums, Clem Clempson (Humble Pie, Colosseum) on guitar and David Sancious (Bruce Springsteen, Santana, Eric Clapton, Sting) on keyboards and guitar. It’s fascinating to watch and listen to these four equitable and brilliant musicians in their blind perfect interplay on stage.
